Need some advice about moving a station
So im planning on moving one of my main stations due to emissions and and im wondering if moving it all at once will result in me losing all the cargo as well. the line will all be the same so would cargo move over, or will i just have to take the loss of cargo and passengers for a year or so? for reference http://prntscr.com/qcbi37 station in red will be moved over into the blue same with all of the lines connected.

The game seems to have some sort of system for dealing with this, like the devs anticipated a player might want to do what you're thinking of.

If you demolish a station ,truck stop or w/e the game leaves a ghost icon it's place for a period of time. After a few minutes maybe this icon develops a red line that starts filling and I think when it's done the ghost icon disappears.

What I think happens is if you build a replacement station within this time it will transfer all the details of it, line routes and stuff. So if you connect it up again, in the same way of course, all the trains will run as before.

Whether this also applies to transferring the cargo as well I do not know, never actually tried it in that situation.

No doubt there is a distance factor involved as well, the replacement's got to be within a certain range of the original etc. No idea what that is. But you should be able to test that easily enough by just deleting the station and seeing if you get this ghost icon. It's got to have a purpose, this icon, hasn't it.

Save your game and test the catchment area to see if everything transfers over to your new location.

With the way you can manipulate time in the new game I see no reason why you can't move it gradually [other than costs] taking the station to the maximum distance whilst retaining the cargo. at each step.

I thought cargo would shift over too, but I just tested this and cargo doesn't transfer over like lines do. Cargo only appears to remain intact when shifting terminals within a station.

This works on ports etc too.
So if you want to add a platform in one place, and get rid of one in another, provided you add the new terminus, shift the line, Then get rid of the old one, no cargo will be lost.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I upgraded my main harbor. Placed a large dock to cope with overcrowding issues, then deleted the now redundant small dock. All lines/cargo transferred just fine, hence why I thought cargo would shift when moving the station itself. Could do with an update to make it consistent.

Seems this is not true if you move a station. That or i moved it too far http://prntscr.com/qcbut0 this is after running about a month i lost all passengers and cargo that were in the station....but hey it looks alot nicer at least the loss of money and cargo isnt too bad
