Bonus Mission: Deliver Sugar
Mission say "Deliver sugar from sugar plantation to Surabaya", but the truck station I built next to the sugar farm is never filled.
I even tried placing a train station near it in case the farm would only deliever to train stations, but nothing happens there as well.
Is this mission broken? o_O

I came here with the same question. Same thing is happening to me, the truck station near the sugar plantation never has any sugar.

I guess the obvious questions are these:

  1. Does the truck station actually have the plantation in its catchment area?

  2. Are you delivering the sugar to a freight stop, not a passenger stop?

  3. Does the freight stop in Surabaya have sugar-demanding structures in its catchment area?

Add to that:

4. Does the train have the appropriate cargo wagon (Gondola for sugar)?

I was able to sort of "brute force" it by drawing a road from Surabaya to Searang, but I wanted to get the train to transport!

When I finally inspected my train, I realized I did a dumb and had sent the coffee train (with coffee only Boxcars) to the Sugar station. Can't put sugar in those, so it creates no demand.

Got it to work. Looks like the issue was number 2. Sort of. I had added cargo capability to my passenger station or so I thought. I didn't realize adding a cargo platform alone was not sufficent I also needed some terminal building. Thank you for the help. This game is definitely something I can see myself playing for awhile but it sure is unintuitive and not even remotely user friendly. Having to come to the forums for help on what is for all intents and purposes a tutorial mission is not a very good look.

Same issue for me. Game is indeed not always intuitive. Especially tutorials should be a smooth experience. But thank you for the replies, will try that!

I got the solution. 3 Steps needed
1. Build a cargo terminus station on both end of cities and connect them with tracks
2.Create a new line between them
3.Now in "Surabaya city" near that " train terminus cargo station" create truck station and then other truck station near residential area and connect them both with new line and then make cargo horse carriages with sugar icons.

Note: Make sure those 1st truck station touches the train terminus cargo station

I feel you. The campaign in this game leaves much to be desired. Fortunately I already knew how to play having come from the previous two games in the series. But even with that knowledge I still found some of the objectives puzzling in the campaign because of how poorly worded or explained some things are that aren't about how the game works but how a specific objective works in the campaign.

I would recommend to just watch someone on Youtube to get a sense of how things work. Though take what you hear and see from any Youtuber with a grain of salt as I have yet to see one that doesn't include some bad information or poor understanding of some of the games functionality.

Bonus missions hints are worst . It will take like days to figure it out ,if we don't search online

I watched a few videos & spent a bit of time in free play (not even more than a day's session) before I went back to the campaign. The campaign was easier; I wasn't quitting before it got too frustrating. And the part I wrote about enjoying solving problems? I am getting that feeling. If I create a line & something is off about it, I'm no longer spending ages not getting closer to the solution. I don't care if something takes me days to solve as long as I feel I am making progress on it.

It's terrible that the tutorial missions need supplementing with beginner videos.

Hmm, I think the hints themselves are fine. Only took me ~5 minutes to figure out what the hints meant; now, actually doing the thing to achieve the bonus objectives is something else. E.g. If my idea of how you draw a star is different from the games... Well, let's admit that I did in fact look up what order the game wanted it done despite me knowing what to do. A terrible example of the difference between what vs how.

And another bonus mission example:

I understood that the land use view holds the key to finding the meeting buildings to destroy. The buildings are gray like the ground in that view. They just blend in. Again, I looked it up to make sure I had it right, not because I felt I couldn't figure it out; I didn't want to spend the time combing the city in that view if it turned out I was wrong. It doesn't help that the shallowest green of residential buildings is almost gray too.

Hints like "dig up X" referring to use the terraform tool to lower the terrain are great ones imo.
lol. you looked up everything then how come u saying hints are "fine".. Hints are no way close to beginner levels especially when someone who never played TF 1. Spending more time figuring itself means hint is not enough/proper. Some hints players will never get like those tools/misc ,gemstones and star stuff

For me, it was that I was using boxcars instead of gondolas.
