A guaranteed way to avoid the issue is to have the parallel tracks set to a specific angle for the entirety of the stretch you are trying to put the diamond switch on. The only way you can have a section of track to be consistently one angle is to first build a section of track that uses the angle you want. Than build a new section of track that continues from the last one and set to the same angle. The new section will be a consistent angle and will allow a diamond switch with a parallel track that is also a consistent angle with no problems.
I guess, you could make your own pre-designed constructions/parts, then re-use. So, for example the highway cross seen in video can be one blueprint. Same as track diamond can be one blueprint.
Choose from menu, place it. Easy as that.
I agree. I thought it was just me because I've been away from the game for awhile. Also, I can't seem to get my signaling to work properly either.
I play the island maps, mostly. I can get everything to work if I only use passing lanes, but multiple track layouts have been a bear!
I ran the height map cursor over my tracks once and they were all the same height and perfectly straight - still couldn't build the double crossover because it would raise the cross in the middle up above the surrounding tracks for no reason. Using M/N to lower the middle just left it highlighted red unbuildable.
