However, you are free to do as you wish. Remember your honor.
I mean, what would be best to open the "globalsave.gt" file with for easier viewing?
A basic text program?
If you disable Steam Cloud, then you can move and put back the save files at will. globalSave.gt is controlling all the metagame stuff (animal masteries, art gallery, tarot cards), and savedGame.gt is your current playthrough. usr.gt is options like font size and volume.
So if I wanted to test outcomes quickly, I'd...
1. Exit game,
2. Copy out savedGame.gt somewhere else,
3. Start game,
4. Do whatever,
5. Exit game,
6. Copy savedGame.gt back to Saves folder.
You cannot force integrity. "Making" someone mindful will only delay their growth. People choose a path; when forced to walk it, they gain nothing. The game has good intentions. However, the repetitive grind -- not of their choosing -- negates the intended effect.
There are no shortcuts to enlightenment, nor can one be led by the nose to it. There should be learning acquired that reduces or simplifies some of the dialog on multiple play-throughs. And once acquiring certain skills/cards, and having made certain choices dozens of times, those choices should have a "pass".
Ten thousand steps to mastery. Meditate on that for your next game.
I happened to like re-reading some of the full dialogue on multiple playthroughs. I appreciated some of it all the more once I had seen more of the story and had seen/read what comes later.
I'd love three save files or so, without the ability to copy between the saves.
The easiest way to accomplish what you're seeking, is to
1) browse to the c:\users\(your user name)\appdata\locallow
2) right-click 'Dreaming Door Studios' and selecting 'send to' and then 'Desktop as shortcut'. You'll now have a quick and easy way to get back to the save files.
3) There will be a folder in this location named 'Golden Treasure - The Great Green'. This folder contains your persistent game and any of your game saves.
4) You can now copy this folder at any time while the game is open, and rename it to keep track of who it belongs to. With the game closed, simply rename the folder back to it's original name, and you'll be able to continue where you left off.
5) I highly recommend not using saves as a safety net unless you want to ruin the experience the devs intended.
