Eyja Mountain coin collection difficulty spike
lol has anyone gotten to that bit on Eyja Mountain where you have to ground pound the button and have to collect all them coins? i really wasnt expecting it to be as hard as it was because the game has been a breeze up until now. Also what i hate is that it doesnt make it clear where the next coins are going to spawn, which is problematic considering that you're on a time limit and you dont even know where to go

It only gets harder... Man, I spent a good amount of time with those coins. I would say if you can, remember the location of the challenge button and familiarize yourself with the mountain first. I think overall, it would've saved me more time if I saved those coin challenges until the end.

yeah, thats what i done, i familrised myself with the area first. Do you know how to get the door that opens when you activate the Firefly thing at the top of the mountain? i can see the door open behind metal gates, but i cant get through the metal gates in order to get to the door. I know there is a gate thing that opens all gates, but this gate isnt open, its just like a wall?

This is one of the hardest parts of the game. We intended this specifically to be for those who don't like their games easy!

I understand that it's meant to be a challenge for players who want it, and that BK and DK64 had similar sections.

However, my issue with one of the coin challenges (the one where you go through a gate to get to it and it ends at the top of the mountain) is that the camera angles and coin placements do not make it clear where to go next. After a ton of failed attempts I actually had to scout out the area and figure out where I could actually go before attempting the coin rush again, because it wasn't obvious during the actual challenge. Placing coins on the climbable walls, at the edge of platforms where you can do a lock-on jump, etc would have signposted it a lot better.

However, the other two coin challenges were much better in this regard so no complaints there.

Oh, and while I've got your attention (hopefully) I need to mention a glitch on Eyja Mountain. There are two fireflies that I absolutely cannot catch no matter how many times I pounce on them. One of them is at the top of the mountain and moves to different areas when you get close. The other starts in a cave before flying to a higher point (where there's four rock insekts) and also flies around to different points. Could you look into this and make sure it's not a glitch that's making it impossible to catch them?

HI, thank you for your feedback, we can consider changing the camera angles for the coin challenge you mention, it's meant as a puzzle, but maybe it ends up confusing.

The fireflies should all be catchable, try to find the exact right timing forr catching the fireflies in Eyja Mountain as if you're a predator trying to catch a prey where only a small window will allow you to catch it.

i have the same problem, i couldnt tell where the next set of coins were. The game shows you where they are but i still couldnt work it out, it also doesnt help that the camera only stays there for like 2 seconds. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that you're also on a time limit.
I struggled catching them 2 Fireflies as well, took me a while to catch them. They arent bugged, they're just difficult to catch, what i done is i stood directly underneith them before pouncing on them

The thing is, the last part of the puzzle is trying to find the ledges that let you do a lock-on jump, and when you're on the clock that's really difficult (especially since they can blend in with the rest of the scenery unless you're really combing the area). You can explore the area beforehand to figure it out, but then you have to climb all the way back down the mountain to restart the challenge. It's kinda annoying tbh.

Also I got stuck at the first climbable wall (in the coin challenge) because I couldn't tell that it was a climbable wall. I'd like it if they were more visually distinct from normal walls, if that's possible.

I did that. I did every single trick that I used to catch all the other fireflies. I even lined it up so perfectly that the Tamarin clearly made contact with the firefly mid-pounce. It still didn't work. The stuff that worked with other fireflies didn't work for these particular ones. :\

I walked right up to them and did the 'reach out without pouncing' animation during the 2 second window where they sit perfectly still. It didn't work. :\

I might give them another go later on, but I just wanted to make sure they weren't glitched.

Ikr! i often missed climbable walls because they are difficult to see, normally in games they're distinct so that you can easily see that its a climbable wall, but in this game; the cimbable walls just look like general parts of the world

Yeah, the few where you had to kind of time your pounce took a bit, but weren't bad, with one exception for me.
The one that goes up and down every couple seconds took me quite some time to get. Like Lupus, I had the most luck standing underneath and timing it for when the Firefly was lower, obviously, but it still took a lot of tries, I seemed to clip through it a bunch.
I originally tried catching him jumping off the higher ledge, but then I fell a couple times and had to get back to him again. :)

I just came on here to complain about these. They cross the line from being "challenging" to "unfair and tedious". I just wasted over an hour and a half trying to do one, and still haven't successfully finished it because I can't figure out where to go for the next set of coins.

So frustrated.

They arent difficult, because you have plenty of time to collect all the coins, the only 'difficult' thing about them is trying to find out where the next set of coins are, but thats just fake difficulty. Its bad enough that the camera showing the coins is so close to them that you cant see where they are, but its even worse that the camera stays there for only 2 seconds. What i done was i took a screenshot when the game showed the set of coins, so then i could take my time looking at the screenshot and trying to work out where the next set of coins are, but even with the screenshot for me to look at at my leisure, i still struggled to work out where they were lol
Nidstang Sep 13, 2020 @ 7:08am
Only you don't have "plenty of time". There's no room for error.
Banana Duck ඞ Sep 13, 2020 @ 7:19am
@Nidstang - i had plenty of time, i have a recording of me doing all the coin challenges, i just checked the recording; i had between 5 to 16 seconds left per set of coins. So the least amount of time i had left per set of coins was 5 seconds which is plenty of time. There isnt really much error that could be made, unless you have the enemies alive, then you could get attacked by them, but i killed them all before doing the run so that it made it easier

Man idk how you managened that. I'm finishing each set with less than a second.

Make a wrong turn, slip on a platform, miss a jump, or miss a coin while walking passed, and it's over. No margin for error. You need to run these perfectly.
