Suggestion
Don't show the hot spots and don't use comments about what the player has to do. You made it to easy, spoiling any interest for the environment.
Or, you can add an option: With / Without help.

Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I'm always loking for a balance in these things. :P

Btw, if you want a game with zero help, you should play my previous game Corrosion: Cold Winter Waiting. That was one of the biggest complaints though. :D

I have play it already, long time ago...

Did you enjoy it? :)

YES, Also the new one (story, design are perfect...) and it could be better without the visible hot spots.

Cool, thanks. :D I understand what you mean. I don't know if a lot of people would like a game without any visible hotspots though. I wouldn't like that, personally. I did hold off on adding a "reveal all" indicator for the hotspots though. It's jjust about the balance. :)

I don't delete the post, so you can have some more opinions about it.

No need to delete the post. All constructive criticism is welcome. :)

what other devs do is make the hotspots active when you use the spacebar, Odysseus adventure game does that, the 1st episode is free if you want to check it out. I love it when there is an hotspot indicator but usually it's hidden until the player wants it. I loved your other game as well just bought this game.

Hey, thanks. :)

I'm not a big fan of the hotspot indicator myself. I like to do some hunting around. I will think about it though for future games. Perhaps it could be enabled/disabled in some kind of option menu. :)

Just finished the game today and personally thought the hotspots were fine, hiding them would just artificially make it more difficult. If anything in the next games to come (really looking forward to them btw) I would suggest trying to make the puzzles or processes more complex if you wanted to make it harder.
Anyway I really liked this game and was a fan of your previous one too so keep doing what makes you happy. :steamhappy:

This thread is a bit old, but still on the first page, and the dev seems interested in opinions, so I'll add mine. :)

I enjoyed this game precisely _because_ it was fairly easy. For me, it felt like the most important part of this game was to tell an interesting, tragic story with a flawed but relatable main character. I don't think it was supposed to be a challenge and I don't think it needed to. I do like challenges in games that are about the puzzles. But in a game that's more about the story, where the puzzles are just a vehicle to keep the player engaged, having more challenging puzzles is often detrimental to the player's immersion. At some point the player's mindset would switch from "I'm Erin Myers and I have to solve this problem to advance my plan" to "I'm a frustrated player who can't find a way out of this unnecessarily obtuse puzzle".

That said, there's nothing wrong with giving players the option to hide hotspots, if they enjoy the game more that way. I wouldn't make it the default setting though.

Yes, Psyringe, that is exactly right. :) The biggest complaint about my previous game, Corrosion, was that it was too difficult. I had a reason for designing it that way, but obviously it didn't quite work out as I planned. So, with this game, I wanted it to not be so difficult. I wanted the puzzles to just be enjoyable rather than frustrating. Maybe they are a little too easy, but I think most people seem to like them overall. There's no right or wrong, and you can't please everybody in the end. Anyway, glad you liked the game. :)
