Ink Demon is nothing but annoying, now.

Now he shows up like every minute on the dot, and is just a glorified "instant death when timer runs out" thing.

And "shows up" is putting it lightly. It's just a spooky screen filter and some sound design. Doesn't even randomly show up and prowl the area after you've made too much noise anymore. Every time you actually see him are just scripted events.

Tbf the pathfinding in this game is kind of garbage and i worry it would make him not scary at all if the ink demon got stuck on corners or turned around when you get into a vent or past a wall the way lost ones and keepers do. The current mechanic has positives and negatives; it does make me feel like he can get me from anywhere and i jump every time the screen comes up, panicking to find a hiding space in time (sometimes panic brain makes me forget when theres one right next to me lol) but at the same time i have to agree that its a bit less cool not having him roam the levels

i mean he only TRULY roamed around chapter 3 in the og game everything else was scripted

Giving valid criticism does not make someone childish. He does not actively roam, therefore is barely a threat. There needs to be a balance with him and this wasn't it unfortunately.

also just because something doesn't roam doesn't mean it's not scary

I feel like a lot of people don't realize that his slow ass in Ink Machine was the reason his mechanic was changed. Dude moved at a snail's pace and we had to wait for like 3-5 minutes just for him to walk his ass the long way through Heavenly Toys on Level K. Massive improvement from showing up as a threat than just one chapter. After going back and playing the original without the rose-tinted glasses, I realized just how slow and boring the Ink Demon was in Chapter 3. I'm glad it was changed tbh, makes him popping up that much more startling. Have your opinions, not trying to change them, just wanted to let you guys know that his slow movement in Chapter 3 was the reason his mechanic was changed.

They actually slowed him down twice in BATIM, not sure why. When ch3 first dropped, he was the Flash lol. Was actually a bit unfair since he'd run you down with no problem if you didn't happen to be in jumping distance of a station. He had the perfect speed after that, but became a turtle after ch4's release for some reason, so it's not like they couldn't just make him a bit faster again. Free roaming demon gave you reason to fear him, to see his actual presence.

To be honest I find it annoying I'm not even sure how to time the minutes I have to find a hiding space all in all new appearance better old appearance happy nostalgia no problems with the snails pace but also missed pre beta bendy OG then again this demon really does actually jump me and sometimes I'll just be attempting a redemption for a lost one and then it says alert Ink Demon is coming I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off they should add a Highlight option for beginners XD that shows you a hiding spot rather than run around shrieking the DEMONS COMING! all the time it stays highlighted until you enter the hiding spot. I also find when stuck in combat annoying that you can't hide no matter what. But besides all that I'm just frankly not that great at these kinds of games hiding stealth not my strong suits. Sincerely an avid ink machine fan.
