Aeon's End

Multiplayer?
After seeing the last update, there is no mention of multiplayer. Is this something that will be coming? I had assumed from the start there would be. Sentinels has it so it only seemed logical, but, again, no mention of multiplayer in the update. I hope it's coming. A friend and I were looking forward to the multiplayer to help cut down set up time for our ever growing addiction and to be able to play while we can't be at each others houses.

To be fair, Sentinels didn't start with Multiplayer either.

We would like to add online multiplayer to the game in the future, but it's not in scope for the initial retail release.

Since it's a co-op game with no hidden information, playing over screen share isn't too bad, for now =)

"playing over screen share isn't too bad"

Actually it's the worst. There's no point releasing a board game, intended to be multiplayer, with no multiplayer function.

Agreed. I play with my friends over Remote Play and it works very well. I'm more interested in the addition of the expansions than of multiplayer!

I use remote play to enjoy Aeob' End with my buddies very often. We actually have a play date tonight.
The game support that feature, you should use it. A buddy of mine even joined me by remote play and recorded the game to put it on YouTube.

My friend and I tried remote play. So incredibly laggy. After one game, we didn't want to live through that torture again.

I'm sorry you have bad internet. When we played, recorded through OBS, there was no lag. And I have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Lenovo office laptop, while my friend was o his boat using solar panel for his electricity and his phone for the connection. Even in these conditions, the game played very well.

Did want to say I 100% do want multiplayer. Would definitely like to be able to look at other cards while playing.

I feel Aeon's End does work quite well of remote play in Parsec because for the most part only one thing is happening at a time.

I still am just not a huge fan companies saying remote multiplayer is "good enough".

Wanting to push this to say that the current Kickstarter has a multipalyer stretch goal! We just need enough people to back the expansion (which will come with the expedition mode! Super cool :D)

I backed the expansion within 5 minutes of receiving the email :)
I own it in physical and it's just amazing!

I find it difficult to do video gaming in comparison to board games. I was excited to see they attempted this on a computer... not as challenging or fun as the real thing. It's like sex, sure porn hub is great, but the real thing is much better.

Programming a Game and programming a Game with multiplayer in mind are 2 completly different things. So different that you often are better of to start from zero again.
The Undo Action button is another such feature and i believe they took the shortcut and used the Version of Undo that only works if you only work on one machine.
My point is : They did not plan for multiplayer and the more Expansions are coming the less likely it gets that multiplayer will ever be a thing.
Looking at the price of the product - it never will be a thing.

Sorry, they are not two completely different things. We added online multiplayer to Sentinels of the Multiverse after launch, and we're doing the same thing with Spirit Island. In all cases, we have built the game with the knowledge that we may add multiplayer in the future. It's still something we would like to do if feasible with Aeon's End.

I love the work you did on Sentinels, so you have my full confidence.
It's sad that people want more content for the game, but no one followed you on the expansion crowdfunding. Owning the physical version of New Age, I was so excited to see it arriving on digital...
Keep on doing an amazing job!
