Dedicated Server?
Wondering if this game supports dedicated servers or is it Peer to Peer?

No dedicated servers. It utilizes Photon cloud as a middle-man sitting between clients, and is otherwise peer-to-peer in a host-client architecture, with hot-swappable hosts.

That's exactly what we need. Dedicated servers have a limited lifespan, as they can and will get shut down once they are no longer profitable to maintain.

He was probably talking about dedicated servers that you can set up and run on your own on a second box. Like Satisfactory , or Valheim, or Sons of the Forest, or Enshrouded etc...

But generally the point of a dedicated server is to run continuously and this game is designed to restart at the end of a run.

So what would the point of running a server be?

Don't know. I was just checking out this game for the group. Never played it before. But I have run dedicated servers for the aforementioned games.

Self hosted dedicated servers can be beneficial in times where you and your friend groups are in a LAN party, far from existing game servers, or the existing game servers are otherwise unreliable. It'd be nice to have them, but while the network backend has software for hosting dedicated servers, they no longer provide licenses for these purposes, outside of allowing game developers to host their own servers.

I see! Yeah, that could be nice.
