Shield hit box detrimental?
One of my friends who plays as the pilot brought up a good point. Since the Shield has a fairly larger hit box than the ship. Does it make shots hit that would have otherwise missed. They only absorb ~50% of the damage. so are you just making yourself a bigger target? Again im not sure that this is the case since i play ng and am busy during most fights. Any feedback would be great. :steamthumbsup:

The Shield absorbs 50% of incoming damage so effectively doubles ship health if you can keep it alive - but yes, it comes at the cost of increasing your hit-box currently. For the explosive missiles, this still makes sense visually, as the explosions are happening right next to the hull, so some damage transfers through, but it DOES look a little awkward with the Sniper beams... when they hit the shield from an angle that wouldn't have hit the Hull, it does kinda seem unfair that you'd get Hull damage also. We might look into detecting that situation in particular and only hurt the shield.

oh, thanks for looking into that!

Speaking of the Sniper, multiple times during defense missions I've noticed that Hollow Snipers can shoot THROUGH asteroids/ obstructions on the METEM ships. I'm not sure if this is intentional, but even when an asteroid is "screen-covering massive", if the Sniper spawns behind it, it just starts shooting at the ships behind cover.

Just and idea but maybe make it so shots that hit the shield damage it, but instead of applying the left over damage instantly to the hull they continue to sail through until they hit the hull. Shots that don't connect just pass by. That way shots that miss the hull still damage the shield, but pilots that maneuver in time can still dodge. Missiles detonating on the shield make perfect sense and stop players form turtling, that i understand. Of course this is just my two cents and i have no game dev experience, and i am super grateful that you responded. :METEMPRESERVEYOU:

A good solution would be that the shield do not "block" the projectiles, so it absorb half the impact, then the projectile follow the trajectory and IF it hit the hull THEN the rest of the damage is done, so IF the projectile after hitting the shield miss the hull, you got no damage
