Trim: The engine trim does eventually start working if you fix some trim manually... sometimes.
Booster: It does work with the thruster booster station, but very slowly even if you enhance the auto mechanic.
I only use it for Thruster Boosters, that usually works.
So if you get a lot of Trim or receive a lot of Defects in a short time-frame, it will take the Auto Mechanic as many minutes to fix all of those problems.
For the most part, it's fairly capable at keeping Trim hovering between 0-9%.
As for Defects, don't get hit too often in a short time-frame.
as someone told before, 60 secs are not enought to really help you, and this is sad since weapon brains works great.
that's the reason why i do not use them, it's a waste of alloy and space, especially if you are using the frigate
Waste of Alloy?
Considering you spawn with one, hardly so.
Waste of space?
Not on the big ship.
I would argue that they do relatively okay keeping boosters charged.
At some point, I came across a bug that allowed the auto mechanic to charge up Thruster Boosters that were turned off (this has been fixed now), but overall, they're not that great.
They regularly struggle keeping up with trims, and using them to auto repair internal damage seems like a waste. Still, they are great for keeping Boosters charged up for longer.
