game needs better balance
it seems almost impossible on some missions there are far too many enemy's i feel like enemy count should scale with amount of players to a degree

to clarify i mean a 2 man team

I played some missions last night with an absurd amount of enemies and we came out on top. It really helps if you take the time to gather resources from crates and destroyed enemies and use those to repair/upgrade your ship.

the game is easy, the difficulty is literally 'normal'

just learn the mechanics to come out on top

Agree with forty4. We played together with friend and missions were alright.

I'd say balance is kind of fine, really depends on how pilot can fly, how shooters hit and how much does your mechanic care about your engine :D

Also it gets much better after you reach a higher level and get some "buffs" for your role.

(but I'd love to see the ability to fully repair a ship hehe)

its fine for a full group but with just 2 people theres to much to do and you cant multi role perks

Then yes, for 2 people it might be much harder. Full group is a-ok tho.

The ability to repair a ship "past" the hull breaches / passively regen some HP would be a nice perk for engineer, and a much needed buff for their gene tree

No matter what ship you use, having 4 people is pretty much a necessity b/c the pilot pretty much never helps with anything, and certain missions will force you to leave someone behind for maintenance in a station or something.

Honestly if you have a competent team you can overcome any objective regardless of situation / difficulty settings.

I am fairly sure the number of enemies changes based on the number of players, and in some missions there are definitely fewer targets. I've played 2 and 3 player games and haven't had much difficulties after the first few hours. A few tips from what I've learned:
1. Prioritize optional objectives first. They often give some much needed resources with no extra threats.
2. The pilot has to learn how to manoeuvre the ship to dodge incoming fire and keep targets in range for the gunner(s). Avoid flying in a straight line for long periods in a battle. My go to strategy is flying above targets, circling or weaving as I follow them. Also: Always use third person view while piloting!
3. Ignore the smallest fighter ships and focus on the main objectives and bigger enemies. It's better to tank some damage and get the objective done fast because the enemies won't stop coming.
4. Learn the missions. They play out pretty much the same every time. This also helps you avoid mission types you find too difficult.
5. Orient your ship to face the exit before initiating void jump in a battle. It sometimes takes really long time for the ship to automatically orient itself and this can get you killed very easily.
6. Remember to press tab to make the enemy/objective markers permanently visible. This helps a lot with keeping track of things around you.
7. Fix your ship after void jumping. There shouldn't be any immediate threats after arriving in a new location.
8. You can start charging the void jump immediately after arriving so it will be ready when you need to escape.

Hope these tips help!

I agree mostly. The randomness of certain missions (LOOKING AT YOU CLEANSE) is way out of wack. Like I get the combat missions will involve more combat. I get that. However infinitely spawning on top of them targets spawning the panic reinforce button is just alot.

Edit: Maybe rewards should reflect the mission type a bit more then they do currently.

The amount of enemies isn't too bad in my opinion, the problem is they all just wave on you and you have no opportunity to repair or get off the ship for objectives. So far I hate the random people we're finding so there's just two of us but once you get to the objective there's just no chance to rest and get things done. There's no repair heads up for the grease monkey to quickly get to the damage. There's no chance to really upgrade because you have to CONSTANTLY be in battle to GET the alloy to upgrade with and we can't spare someone to mess with the fabricator. We need a more balanced attack-rest ratio.

I pretty much agree with everything but the last point here. Having the void jump charged dramatically reduces your ships speed, maybe if things are getting hairy and you want to abort a mission, you could start charging it. Otherwise its best to leave it alone until you're ready to go.

Sadly, the grease monkey tree is just plain bad. There isn't a single useful thing in the entire tree. Even a Scrapper is better at working on the ship than a grease monkey. Upgrades are best done after leaving warp. You always warp in away from enemies and it's calm, use this time to fabricate, upgrade, fix everything. Explore side objectives, and derelict ships/stations for resources, they have few enemies near them and usually have a bunch of materials and tools. The stuff that drops from fighting is mostly just icing on the cake.
