Currently up to Expert difficulty with my mate and loving how challenging it can be with two!
So far we preference the Broadside loadout
The Destroyer is simply too large for two.
Make sure not to take ANY MISSIONS that require someone to get off the ship. If you have someone off the ship as a duo you are missing a vital member of the team and you're going to get the ship destroyed. You MIGHT be able to manage an EVA required mission here and there but don't rely on it. Strike, Protect, Cleanse, and Raid are the missions I recommend going for. You do get partial credit if you complete partial missions.
Final note, ALWAYS choose the smaller ship. In the main hall where you choose the missions there's a terminal next to the huge window facing the hangar, select the frigate every time. I recommend the basic model even after you get the first few layouts but play with it and find what works for you.
The terminal closest to the viewing port of the hangar. It's to the left as you come down the second set of stairs from the spawn pods. Has a big holographic ship floating over it.
there are missions that work fine with 2 people but you will have to come up with unorthodox solutions (dropping one player in the space station then flying into the enemies , jump out of pilotseat, shot them to get attention, run back to pilotseat and kite them around hoping they dont hit you in the process too much)
Cheers for that mate.
I am playing with 3 people in the frigate. I would say 2 is doable, but the 2nd person is going to be very busy.
There is basically a dedicated pilot, and the 2nd person has to switch between gunnery, repairs/maintenance and scavenging. Of course, you can switch it up a bit, but just understand it will be a bit hectic haha.
Regardless, it IS playable with 2 people.
I did wish I can use that extra turret though to mow down Hallows.
The one time I had trouble is forgetting my gravity scooper. After that, it went smooth sailing when I turned it on.
Although...the gravity scoop is the best thing.
Also, think about crafting and upgrading your ship and it will be pretty do-able.
Of course, with 3 players it's easier to manage but we even took the large 3-4 player ship and succeeded to manage it with only the two of us.
But yeah, in very first few games, you're probably going to struggle a bit but it gives a good laugh TBH.
