Perf Rough?
Is performance rough on the start for anyone else? 12900k 3090 32gb ram on a nv.me and the frames are very questionable even tho im well above 150fps hteres a lot of chopping going on

Basically you are all complaining about 'screen tearing' but don't know the word for it ?

Not surprised V-sync fixes it.
nah it's not screen tearing, It more so feels like the game runs at a fixed frame rate of around 30-45 regardless of your actual frames

No, we're not talking about vsync. A no, it doesn't fix it (as has been said many times in this thread).

I know some other games that had issues with higher framerates 144ish, where the hands shown on screen didn't synch with the frames properly.
the animation\physics on the hands was limited and updated less frequent then the rest of the screen making it slightly jittery and nauseating if you focused on them too much.

I hope they will be able to fix this or i have to refund.

Still kinda wondering how they did not notice this.

Same here, butter smooth inside turret and micro stuttering while walking inside the ship,
average 120 fps
my issue was with v-sync, idk if that helps anyone

Tried a lot of testing, messed with the boot config options, nvidia control panel settings and in-game settings, results are very inconsistent, at least for me,
on borderless it is way more apparent.

Fullscreen at 120hz 1920x1080 has the same issue but when i changed from fullscreen to borderless and then back to fullscreen, it improves but still relatively noticeable just not as bad

(testing was done in the hub area NOT on a ship where i found it to be at its worst)

vsync on seems to be better than off but didnt fix it entirely. no other in game settings seems to effect this.

no nvidia settings changed much if anything at all.
Boot config changes also didn't bring any noticeable change.

My only temporary improvement would be to switch between 120hz and 144hz, fullscreen and borderless. My best option was 120hz, vsync on and fullscreen. but i have to switch stuff around before it actually improves, monitor is 144hz but no matter what i did it always ran like this at the 144hz setting, 120 seemed to be much better.

borderless is also just not good, no matter what borderless ran worse and was much more noticeable no matter what. set 120hz, vsync on, fullscreen, and switch between either fullscreen to borderless, back to fullscreen. or 120hz to 144, back to 120, this brought the only noticeable improvement i could feel/see but did not FIX it entirely, its still there, just not as bad. let me know if anyone else notices improvements on their end

Ps: for me it felt like it improved from feeling like 30-35 fps to about 50-55 but regahrdless it still feels off.

Well im subbed to this discussion, hopefully see something promising from devs soon. Not gonna put any more hours on the game in case I need to refund.

its not great fps for me either. turning settings down doesnt help at all sadly.

Just a guess, but there's something going on with the Unity engine running beyond 60fps here. The moment I am in a gunner seat, the FPS is wonderful, as soon as I jump out of it and am back in first person inside the ship, the FPS takes a hit. I'm running at 144hz, but the game is averaging about 120 for me, and I am seeing a 20fps drop between my view in the ship versus outside of the ship. When inside the ship, if I face the dead center of the ship, I take the 20 FPS hit

When piloting or moving outside of the ship, I get another 20 fps drop.

According to Windows (10), my RAM is only 30% being used, CPU is at 60%, and GPU is at 90%. Disk Usage is a 0%

Windows 10 64-bit
I7-9700k 8 core 3.6ghz
32768 MB RAM
NVIDA GeForce RTX 2070 Super
DirectX 12
1920 x 1080 Resolution @144hz DELL S2715H

This only happens when trying to run the game at 144fps. When running it at 60fps, none of these issues are occurring.

However, it also seems like Anti-Aliasing isn't doing anything at all. No matter what settings or resolutions I change it to, corners and edges, are still very jagged looking.

As a side note, just out of curiosity, is mouse-smoothing forced on? When turning there's something ..."off" (I know that doesn't help) about how smooth the movement/view is, this is a common culprit of the problem, and there are no-ingame options to turn it off.

I have latest NVIDIA drivers.
Closing other programs doesn't change any performance behaviors in-game.

Interesting find regarding 120 fps vs 144 fps vsync, Ginja. This could explain why some people feel the issue is noticeably better (though not fixed) when they turn on vsync, yet others say it doesn't help at all (myself included). I suspect the people who found vsync helped them were people already at 120 fps (or even 60). Like you, I am at 144 fps, so vsync didn't make any noticeable difference for me at that refresh rate.

Now that I put my refresh rate to 120, the game is considerably smoother compared to 144. For fun I put the refresh to 60 and saw exactly what you were talking about with the movement. Though it was relatively smooth, I feel like I was going to chuck if I played it for any length of time. It's a weird 'swimmy' feeling (terrible explanation :B1: ) that induces nausea.

I imagine the devs are knee-deep in initial bugs, etc at the moment since it is the first build in EA. That said, it would be nice if they dropped a note relatively soon that acknowledges the issue so they don't lose out on those customers that are seeing this and refunding.

Hello there,

I understand these steps might seem basic for some, but I still have to go through them to discard possible sources.

  • Please make sure your drivers are up to date, specially GPU drivers
  • Could you try launching the game without any other applications or background programs opened, to check if the issue persists?
  • What are your computer specs?

From what you're saying, I guess we're talking about FPS being normal, but still experiencing mini-freezes and that kind of thing?

Trying to understand your issue as best as possible and gather information to try to help you solve this, or pass the information on to the dev team for review.

Any plan to fix the horrific anti aliasing? The gameplay seemed cool but I genuinely can't play because its hard to even focus my eyes on anything as its so aggressively shimmering. Cant even see what im looking at.
b0om 11/set./2023 às 17:33
I've noticed the issue as well. Feels like the game is running at a locked 30 or 40 fps despite the FPS counter reading 140-150+.
ghastly 11/set./2023 às 18:52
I'd also like to echo the same thing being said. Performance metrics are high up there, 80-100 fps at 1440p...but the game feels like it's running at 30-40 fps while walking around inside the ship, and moving the mouse in game feels heavy.

Game is running on an SSD and my PC has these specs:

RTX 3070
Ryzen 5950x
64gb DDR4 ram
