Underrated vestige set
Recently had a streak of victories at solo rank 20 using classes like the star captain and clairvoyant where I leaned heavily on an unexpected vestige set. It wasn't the usual suspects of poison or burn, or shadow or the (significantly nerfed) vigorous/verdant setup...

Instead I found myself leaning on the FABLED set...

Quick FYI for those unaware or confused with how the fabled set works: at the end of each of your first 5 turns, you get a bonus for each will that you have left. As in, you had extra will for using bindings, but you chose to end turn instead. at the 2 piece bonus, you get kwillings...about 10-15 per will. 3 piece - you get 2 shield on your NEXT turn per will you saved on THIS turn. 5 piece - you get 10 Omni damage for the rest of the combat per will you saved.

It's hard to use....you need to intentionally NOT kill enemies - and it starts tracking right away, so trying to save one easy enemy until last and leaving it alive only gets you the last 1 or 2 turns of benefit. That 3-piece bonus is awkward too...if there are enemies alive and attacking you, you don't actually gain any protection from them on the turn you save the will, it only works NEXT turn (though it can be handy on enemies that alternate between avoidable and unavoidable attacks, like the burrowing worms. Those first 2-3 turns of a combat can be rough too, plus you only start at 4 will, and saving 1 or 2 will is a pretty tiny effect - hardly something you can build a run on.

The benefits, if you can actually manage to save 5 will per turn, for 5 turns, are amazing. You can easily come out of fights with ~300 kwillings per fight - enough to fund a generous amount of rerolls as needed, and unlike Kwilling Hoarder, also provides some (tricky to use, but powerful) defense and offense. 50 omni damage per turn means long boss fights will see you at your best after they phase, instead of the too-common problem of struggling while plinking away at that second half of the health bar. And 10 shield per turn on turns 2-6 means that if you can make it work for the first turn, it's easier to keep going.

It definitely takes some support though. Some way to generate or have more will, especially on the first couple turns, is crucial. The will collector set (Future Willer gets special mention) or ancient wisdom sets can really help so that you can use a binding or two each turn while still saving up 4-5 will. Vulkus' Bond enhancer, if you're lucky enough to get an ideal legendary vestige, makes it really easy, since you only save up on turn 1, then spend your normal will each turn. Cultivate, while a bit counterintuitive for the set (since you need to save will earlier, rather than later), can be made to work well, letting you turn 1 will on this turn into 2 or 3 will on the next 1 or 2 turns. Lastly, augments or vestiges that make bindings free, even once a turn, let you do some stuff and protect yourself. And self healing makes decisions to leave an enemy alive a bit easier.

It isn't as massive of an effect as, say, molten/venemous 6 or shadow 8 is, but it functions as a good all-rounder set giving money, defense, and omni-damage, if you can work towards it (and the supporting tactics, like will collector/ancient wisdom sets, or cost discounts are universally useful enough and common enough that you can push for them with any build).

Not an incredibly profound post by any means, but after I found myself stuck with a few levels of Fabled in a rank 20 run and no other clear amazing choices, I decided "why not" and grabbed it so I could at least make some money to reroll for better vestiges if I survived. Then I got fabled 3, because it's pretty quick to grab after 2, especially since so many "decent-but-not-great" support vestiges have fabled, and once I had 3, I could protect myself for a few turns. Still didn't find any great scaling options, and was coming up on a boss fight, so i grabbed another fabled item and chucked it into a grinder to hit 5, and carefully avoided hits and used defensive moves and potions to build up the omni damage and came out of the boss fight doing pretty well. After that run ended with success, and it was clear that the fabled set was what got me through it, I tried to push the same strategy in future runs, and while with some sets it can be hard to force them, fabled is pretty easy to consistently grab, and it yielded similar results. My runs weren't complete steamroll EZ-mode runs, but I was able to stay alive, and more importantly, get what I needed to get stronger as the run went on (Kwillings.)

I agree, Fabled is a pretty awesome set. One of my fav t20 solo runs was Obelisk with Fabled 5 (with multiple Lion's Shares) and the Shield Slam ascension. Getting 10 shield at the start of every turn made Shield Slam insanely powerful and the Lion's Shares kept my will at 5+ so I could enjoy the full bonus in subsequent turns as well! :ibflex:

ive just tried the combo and it feels so good! it is definitely underrated!
Fabled is straight up busted, what makes it broken is it just needs 2 sets to farm up 200 kw per match, ranking it up is a waste

How you staying alive doing nothing for 5 turns if you don't rank it up to 3? How are you killing enemies after (mostly) leaving them alone for 5 turns if you don't rank it up to 5? Probably investing super heavily into other sets so you have bunches of bonus of will and/or defense, right?

What if I told you for a mere 3 set bonus more, that this set would do it for you?
