one of the quests is "as the weaver thread the needle" how do you do that? what does that even mean?

Needles are a common type of enemy you can encounter, they look a bit like humanoid ants. I think chances of encountering them are basically guaranteed in the Garden, but they can also appear in other books. So to "thread the needle" you need to hit them with the weaver's primary attack binding.
