if you mean 'disappear', as in - you where using it and then suddenly there was a strange sound and it was then 'gone' - then that is just the tool running out of durability and breaking. This is normal.
if the tool was broken, then just need to watch the green durability bar on the tool. When it is low, there are a few different options
1. let it break
2. sell it back to John
3. upgrade the tool to copper or iron - this will renew the durability
4. keep it in a create to repair later
When keeping near broken tools - you can purchase a repair table and repair kits from Franklyn. One repair kit will repair all tools in toolbelt and inventory at the same time. Many people keep a box of near broken tools for this reason.
Repair kits are not cheap and are more of a mid to late game item.
Though I am on my 2nd play through and it was the first thing i purchased from Franklyn.
For basic tools, i recommend keeping them and upgrading them to 'repair' durability that way. The repair kits are best used for alpha weapons and such.
BBQ from John is the red one with a lid that moves up and down. It is not a one time use item.
Check your pockets - could be that you picked it up my mistake.
Are you using controller or keyboard?
Getting used to the movement and buttons can take a little time.
Go easy on yourself and slow down. I have heard a few people have problems with accidentally dropping items or picking items up without meaning to. (when using controllers)
I hope you can find the BBQ and that it didn't disappear on you.
Also if you are running dev commands, or mods - these can also cause problems in game.
