It had linked/connected storage boxes all controlled by a single Master Box. You interacted with the master box and anytime you ran out of space, you made another storage box and placed it somewhere.
hell... i might even want the dank null
Better to leave it as a mod.
That can be resolved in many ways, like having it linked to a unique type of chest/storage system that is private vs public
Or tagging each placed chest as belonging to specific users in multiplayer, adding those kind of systems as a modder is more challenging, but the developer can do that in the base game more easily.
The best way would prob be just make it so the chests and benches must be touching the crates or had limited distance so you could still use your friends bench and resources to make something if they asked or offered you something like how Stardew Valley has that crafting bench where you surround it with chests
currently i can sort everything where i want it to be, with connected inventory there had to be a scroll bar - I HATE SCROLL BARS
& this game will have way more stuff added with time, which means in the end you'll have one huge lump of stuff cramped in one inventory
just learn how to manage your stuff in boxes
the only thing i want is bigger boxes, maybe doubled, everything else i hope will remain as it is
no connected inventories please !
& about naming of boxes
there are signs in game, place a sign behind or next to a box, use an object you want to be pictured on the sign on the sign & voila, you don't need text
at least improve your OP
regarding the workbenches having their own storage
i don't know how i feel about that
cause it's a different way of gameplay
btw
i disliked already My Time at Portia, played only briefly the MTaS demo & disliked it also, so ... yeah, tastes are different
i personally am fine with how Dinkum manages stuff
as i already wrote, the only thing that i find missing are just somewhat bigger boxes, that's all
i like that different games have different ways of management, as long there is any sort of a management, i am fine with it
cause there is not "the bestest" way of management
optimization doesn't make for better gaming fun
the same solutions induce rather boredom
I think what you say is true but also not true because eventually the novelty of running or driving back and forth across the map will wear off and will just be a slog and or chore so it will just lead to a central mass of crates and possibly ugly crafting area but I don't think it should be an early game thing it should be something you can buy or eventually work towards and would be a cool goal for mid to late game.
And the best part is then you wouldn't be forced to use it if you have to unlock it and buy it and or place it. adding choices of how to play a game doesn't take away anything it just adds to it or not if you don't use them. But def should't be a forced choice.
