Im confused as it says you get a ticket for each fish but it seems its each fish type only?

No. It's one ticket per fish. I sold John 7 grunters. Got 7 tickets.

Which makes the little fish very appealing as they're fast to catch.

Something is wrong with mine then as I get 1 ticket even if I sell him 11 of the same fish. I tested it and its 1 ticket for each species no matter how many of the same fish I have.

You should be getting 1 ticket per fish. I sold off 32 fish at once today, most of them duplicates and I got 32 tickets.

Cassy that is defiantly a bug, not sure why it has done that on your island.

The usual questions are - do you use mods or dev codes? Did you verify the files. is it single player or multiplayer? If you have other islands do you get the same results?

I am in singleplayer and just the one island. I will try making a new island and see if its different.

If you are using any kind of stacking mod, John will only see a single fish, not the stack of fish. You need to separate them out or sell one fish at a time from the stack for him to give you a ticket for each one.

Cool beans. Happy it wasn't a bug with an easy fix for you. This event is coded as the dev originally coded fish, bugs and critters, one per inventory slot. While the mod makes stacking those things possible, the game won't see it everywhere. Ergo why John was only giving you one ticket per species vs per fish as intended. A bit more of a pain dividing them out as single items but it should work 1 ticket per fish now that you know to do it. That John can be a cheap fellow but he isn't completely shifty. :D

You solved it for me too. I was hunting for this issue too. I need my stacking mod alas or i get overrun with bugs(Gotta catch them all, lol). One at a time it is, thank you!
