Selling Items
:HEAVY_MACHINE_GUN:ello!

Well in a game like this where you can collect and sell a lot of stuff the question is always... What can i sell without regretting it later... Are there any items that are treated like junk and have no other use or does everything have a use? Like Shells from the beach, and bugs are they only meant for trading?

Hi! Technically everything in game has a use, even if that is only to complete daily milestones.

Some bugs and fish can be used for villagers requests, along with clothing and furniture. You can sell some of this stuff if you want. It is usually advisable to keep a couple on hand in case a villager asks for them. They can be sometimes hard to find if you hunt for them after they ask.

Sea shells are only good for daily milestones really. You can turn some into fertilizer, but you need a ton of them to do that, so it's really not worth it.

Other things like stuff you find metal detecting, some can be sold, but it is advisable to keep the rarer things like wires, batteries. Almost all disks can be sold to Franklin for more money then selling to John, though you should keep a handful in case you need them for something you want to make later.

If you are at the start, or near it, and want to make a bit of money, you could pick cactus fruit and cook it. Cooked cactus fruit sells for a decent amount for how easy it is to get, and you can get a ton of it if you wanted.

Thanks for the info!
The only things that have no use right now are toad skin and termite mounds. Everything else can be used in crafting, eating, the museum, clothing (the 🎧) or some other aspect.

With regards to the shells - I agree that it's pointless using them for fertiliser as it takes 2 days to make rather than the one day of poo or bones, however I do keep around 30 of each type in a chest in case of a shipment request on the board. Some of the shells are harder to find than others, so having a stock to grab from is easier than scouring all the beaches for just one more of the type you need. Also the dailies may ask you to sell shells rather than collect them - it's easier to grab a couple to sell, then replenish whilst exploring in your own time so that you don't need to rush back to catch John before he closes (unless your John is placed on/near a beach, of course!)
