Regarding Wheat and Harvesting?

Because Wheat can grow all year round, will it remain on the field if I do not harvest it? This is purely for ascetic purposes...aka wheat field for show only.

The wheat and sugar will both stay in place forever. I have some of each growing at the edges of a pond for purely decorative purposes.
You may want to fence it off if doing a full field though, as the roos will eat it otherwise.
