Dinkum
Ways to save game other than ending the day?
Is there a way to save the game without sleeping until the next day? Or, to ask more directly, is there any way to play for like 10-15m at a time (between other tasks) without losing a whole in-game day if you're interrupted? For those of us who can't always dedicate a couple hours to gaming sessions.

there is a Pause option
if you slept once, means saved the game once it appears on the right side of the Options in your Book

Hmm, still means I have to keep the game running. Especially bad right now, because that eats in to my 2 hour return window, which I might need just for practical reasons of not being able to find time to play the way the game tells me to.

I guess this is now a suggestion thread, then? To allow for a nap to take up a small chunk of time and save the game?

I'm guessing the reason the save system works the way it does is because there are world state details that don't need to be written to the save file if the day turns over (for ex: locations of specific animals). Is "an hour nap" good enough to also handwave those world state details away? *shrugs* That's a Q for the devs, I guess.

Thanks for the tip, though!

if you have some limitations as you described to play one session then i would suggest not to stress too much about lost in game time. you have just to take the whole thing way slower, your progress will be slower but in general you won't be losing anything else. cause your progress drives the game. after the initial few tasks given by Fletch you are completely free to do what you want, you don't even need to progress at all if you don't feel like it. the game is very relaxed if you want it to be, at times probably for some players even too relaxed & not enough challenging.

You can manual save if you activate the developer console, with this activated you just press enter and type save and it will save whenever you want. There is a mod over on NexusMods that automatically turns on the console also, otherwise everytime you load you have to turn it on again.

For those who are gonna naysay and call it cheating, it aint cheating and noone is forcing you to use the rest of the options within the console commands. It is purely an option to manually save if that's all you want

Please make sure when suggesting cheats / dev commands to other players you warn them of the instability of it and to make manual save backups.

Especially regarding the save command, it can cause full world corruption under certain edge cases.

Even with the Dev console activated, it will still only be one save, and if it gets corrupt, you lose everything. I would suggest periodically backing up that one save. Location is C:/user/username/appdata/locallow/JamesBendon/ and copy the Dinkum folder and paste is somewhere else. If you are unaware, the appdata folder is hidden by default. Just google how to make it visible.

Wouldn't have to "suggest" if something that should be in the game by default was there.
And anything can cause corruption, the game is still EA.
