Hunting EXP gain?

Hi! I'm curious about how hunting EXP is gained. Is it based on each animal killed, or simply what parts you harvest?

I see at the end-of-day recap screen that it shows your EXP bar above parts harvested, but I don't know if the two are connected.

by the how hard they are to kill bats give less than a croc or a alpha and so on

actually i am not sure if a kill counts towards hunting experience. to collect meat or any animal ressource does count, even if you didn't kill it, while the jabs you do at an animal don't.
but in the end it's pretty irrelevant, you can seriously hunt first after you get the Copper Spear, before that it's just practice. after the Copper Spear is the Battle Shovel the best general weapon. & if you are good with deep mines, you can probably head towards the new Alpha Spear.
if you concentrate on the weapons is the exact way how you gather hunting XP not really that important.
