New stamina system is trash (dev please fix)
I get exhausted watering plants but not shoveling? How does that make sense?

Either way How lazy is this character whose job is to build, garden, hunt etc. shouldn’t there at least be a tolerance over time build on these activities??

My dink hits a rock 3 times and is already tired. I know the picks are better on stamina the better the pick or axe but they are still terrible and unrealistic.

Not to mention eating food is ridiculous. Nobody can eat that much in a 5minute span

Is there a way to tweak this or roll back version of the game? I know there are mods but I’d prefer not to because I play multiplayer and weird things tend to happen.

(I urge the DEV to remove this or allow the old version to be selected in options. This game is more tedious than before.)

The worst part, at least for me, is when you dink becomes exhausted and is in that state of perma debuff mode. Hands its head and sweats and can barely move? That takes WAY TO LONG to recover from.

i was skeptical of the new stamina so i started a new island just to see how hard it is for a beginner......i found it to be much much easier. Instead of a total drain when doing something, there is a regen. I do not make much food and relied on cooked figs and bush limes. Later on with just meat on a stick or something similar, i was able to go and get the ores throughout the island. The actual mines, i was gifted a roe nigiri which was awesome down there. the next trip i just used meat on a stick. nothing major but it worked effectively and I was able to get alot of iron ore.

Are you able to travel across the map and take out Bush Devils, mine and collect bugs on the way back home without being late to finish a task or killed by shark/gator lol? I'm not saying it's not playable but definitely unrealistic for me, at least. Plus, why isn't shoveling a heavy task? It all seems strange now. I liked the old version, personally because the idea was for it to be a lax kind of game.

What was the old stamina system like?

From a perspective of a new player the stamina system currently seems fine to me and manageable. (Played whole ingame year so far)

As long as i have some food with me and eat before i start doing exhausting tasks it usually lasts me quite long to do all i need to do.

Old system: You'd lose stamina over a longer period of time that would coincide with somewhat of the timescale in dinkum.

New System: Eat Buffets and lose stamina doing everything in 1 minute except shoveling dirt.

You see, when swinging an AXE at a tree loses nearly all of your stamina and I say "Nearly" that's bad, especially when you can shovel all day without being affected. NOBODY is that weak in real life, apart from a child. In a 1 minute span of losing stamina, that's horrendous. Then you have to eat and poop which is fine, but you have to eat a buffet.

I also doubt it lasts you a long time. Go right after and fight two crocs and harvest some resources, we'll see how long that lasts.

It does last long after i eat 3 foods the stamina regenerates rapidly in a blink unless i completely deplete it. And that stays regening like that as long as the food buff is active. Can cut down a forest and still do an Alpha fight , mine , hunt for the rest of the duration .. so not sure what you mean tbh.

Yeah you do you're just lying basically or haven't played my way which is constantly doing something. Daily tasks, personal tasks, fighting, hunting, fishing, resource grabbing, there's no way you are good on energy. I did what you're saying, i've been playing this for long time. It doesn't work like that especially if you get hit. Energy, health. You can't eat your way out of a fight. And even with the health packs you still have low energy and can't eat until you crap it out. How are you going to do all that across the map from your house?

Forging doesn't use energy. Furthermore, the energy regen actually makes you use less food overall. One big egg can provide far more energy in the new system than the old system. All you need to do is incorporate slight breaks. For instance, using garden salad, you can hammer through ore, but rather than collect it as you break the ore, go back and collect all of it which then lets your energy regen. The old system, you'd have to eat more to refill the stamina bar, where now that same food can repeatedly refill the stamina bar without having to eat more. Toffee provides 8 energy per tick, which can boost you stamina bar nearly immediately. I think you need to review the foods to see the changes before rendering judgement as it looks like you're still focused on low quality cooked fruit which does have poor energy and health regen.

I don't understand how you struggle with stamina in this game. Like 100% Recycled Awesome said you either using crappy food or you are constantly depleting your stamina fully instead stopping just before it does and waiting like 1-2 sec.

Stamina is only a problem very early if you try to do too much without cooking any proper food even a Giant Drumstick or Cooked Croco Meat suffices.

So You've got Iron Axe, Iron Hatchet, Special Foods, flyers, etc-- I don't. I'm in the beginning again because I've started over. Like I said, it was better before and that's the original way to play. I'm using a mod for that. This new system is still crap.

Have you tried fruit salad? It's an early item food item. I had the same concerns as you when I was testing in the beta but fruit salad should address your issues with a new character. Wattle tea too as that's easy to get very early. All you need a easy to craft Billy can and wattle flowers.

Despite all the criticism, the game has a fair number of early game food options. Like crab soup.

I still don't like how the new stamina is harsh on power tools and how it gives ranged combat a big bonus in terms of energy regen, but I think you are judging it way too harshly. If there wasn't fruit salad and wattle tea was mid game, you'd have a stronger argument.

-Flying drains stamina (quite a bit actually)
-Hand tools quality does not really affect stamina drain (not that i noticed) also i used power tools too in the second half of the vid too and these have quite signifficant stamina drain
-Croco Meat isn't a special food which i used also in second half of the video.

I was starting out too remember? I said I'm new player? This is my first playthrough , recent. So there was no "old stamina system" for me at any point in that playthrough and i still managed to not have such grossly exaggerated stamina issues "somehow".

As it was mentioned before there are other early options for food for labor intensive days.

So in conclusion - It appears you just don't understand how stamina works nor how to utilize food to your advantage to have full stamina all day.

You fully exert the stamina bar every time instead letting it regenerate before it fully depletes - giving yourself stamina drain penalties on top of using crappy foods that do not give much in terms of stamina regen despite having other options available.
Then complain about having stamina problems and call others liars when they tell you how you can have full stamina all day..

User error.

Well that's just bs, quality of tools does help because you use less swings, which is less energy.

And yet you yourself admitted in beginning it's different.
I prefer original concept. That was perfect. You are just like all the rest, you don't see a problem with anything unless you deem it a problem or when it's inconvenient for YOU.
Truth is I can go out of my way and make all these ridiculous foods
That wasn't the original point. Original point, you overlooked and didn't like, that's not my problem, you could have just kept your trap shut and minded your own business. So if there's nothing good to say just don't say anything at all.
