Dinkum

Does the game feel finished?
I know it's still in EA, but are most components implemented already? Or does it still feel like an EA game?

Trying to decide if I want to start playing. (I'm not super concerned about the EULA)
Thanks!

There are some minor bugs that crop up from time to time, nothing absolutely game-breakingly horrible (unless that multiplayer save lock bug hasn't been fixed?)

In my opinion, there are some fixes that could improve the quality, such as Rayne stops selling duplicate seeds in her shop.

I'd like to see a seed machine, greenhouse for year round crop propagation, a shed for storing junk instead of guest houses, koalas and eucalyptus trees before the game is announced as finished (no idea why platypus don't lay eggs instead of chickens and koalas produce wool instead.)

I'd also like a pair of flamingo ornaments and a garden gnome in my garden.

Is there any information about a possible 1.0? The roadmap displayed has been complete for several months (I've seen that they've added languages since then). Is there anything left to implement ? (according to the developer, not the players). I'd like to play it, but I'm waiting for the full experience (I don't care about mods, multiplayer or the editor).
it's only one dev, so you can imagine what it means if a game becomes as popular, the demands, expectations & then ideas multiply & change the outlook

i'd say the game was already finished several updates before, somewhere in 2023, the additions since then didn't change the main gameplay significantly, they just filled the small empty spaces with bit more to do, like seasonal landscape changes & interactions, weather, one new NPC, few lighter gameplay improvements. the dev mentioned lately some more NPCs & wanting to flesh the present more out, not sure how much of a gameplay change that will be.
for me the game is finished, if something new comes, it's like an addition. Dinkum doesn't feel like Early Access.
so if you are waiting, you are just missing out on a really good gaming experience.

Who is asking this and why? How can you expect me to feel obliged to answer personal questions from a complete stranger, little player?
how can you expect to take you seriously if you have nothing to show for than your opinion

i have played 2873 hours, you can look it up on my Steam account :lunar2019grinningpig:
he never should've been taken seriously in the first place, just based on his track record of rage bait and his name

Check out the list of bugs here on Steam. 743 and counting. Some have been there (you can check it) since 2022 without fixing.
If that wasn't enough, since the last update, the game is completely broken. Crashes and all. Just read what people who (can't) play are saying.
If you'd like to play multiplayer, Dinkum's has never been "real". This isn't new. It's kind of like visiting an Animal Crossing island in a dream. You're so limited in what you can do, you can't do practically anything.
But don't take my word for it. Read for yourself how broken this game is.
Don't be fooled by the "updates" that have been made.
2 more levels have been added to the mine (more of the same, only the enemies are more annoying each time).
A stamina system has been implemented that means you can't cut more than 2 trees without stopping for 1 full real-life minute to "recover yourself" before cutting another 2 and stopping again, which pissed off all players at the time, but it's here to stay.
And a bunch of cosmetic bric-a-bracs. Pure junk.
The game is "playable", when it doesn't crash.
Considering that you don't want multiplayer and that you're fine with its 743 bugs, some of which are game-breaking.
Keep in mind that any type of mod is strictly prohibited by the new EULA and will cause the game to not open or crash immediately.
I'm really confused on why you are equating the amount of bug reports to current in-game bugs.
because he's spent maybe 5 minutes in the game overall and that's why he's hiding his profile. people like him exist to farm jester awards because they have nothing better to do.

Agreed. I'm fairly certain that player has very little time in the game given their inability to cite literally any specifics even when called out on it.

FYI, I left a (negative) review a few days ago. That's why I said there was a way to see how many hours I've played, if you knew where to look. You just had to rack your brains just a little bit (oh, oh, I forgot that you don't use any).
If you are going to look at mine, don't miss the one from Osiris. This is a positive one.

"Started with a tent and a dream. Ended up running an Aussie empire where emus are my taxis, kangaroos guard the farm, and crocs regret ever crossing my fence. My prize pumpkin’s named Bruce, my chicken Shazza lays golden eggs, and the town pub is called The Thirsty Wombat. 10/10 would turn the outback into a paradise again".

I don't know where the golden eggs thing came from. But the pub thing, in just 23.8 hours playing, has installed Sheila in his Australian empire?. Sure, sure, brother.
Many recent positive reviews have minimum playing times and no more than ten words. Quite a few are "product received for free".

Many other users don't like the same things as me. James Bendon's behavior and the fact to had to accept an EULA for a small early access game like this. And its retroactive effect.
I'm surprised by your tunnel vision. I'm not the only one who disagrees with this.
Once again, do you ONLY read what I write? You really do love my prose, as I assumed. Do you not read the problems that players are reporting? Don't you read the negative reviews?
I'm not going to dissect the game into every detail, partly because I don't want to, but mostly because to me, Dinkum is nothing more than a worthless little game. PERSONALLY, I find it ridiculous to have to accept a third-party EULA for THIS game. If you're okay with that, then great. I've never said that everyone has to agree with me. But if someone asks me, I'll give MY opinion. If you want to think it's hate, or rage, go ahead and do your thing. I'm beginning to suspect that you are not wearing your brain on.

"The Fattest Blunt", are you really judging my "name"? What should I conclude from yours, then? OMG,this is really mind-blowing. I don't know where you guys have escaped from. But once again, thanks for making me laugh out loud.

Against my better judgement, I went to look.

You appear to be lying again as there is no negative review by your account. I went back as far as to October 2024 negative reviews and you're not there. I even tried to truncate your name in the search and still got nothing.

So you again, like I said, you're a troll and I'm done talking to someone pathologically lying.

I was afraid you wouldn't be able to find it.
You have to uncheck the summary box to see it, because it's over 10 words long (I guess, it wasn't like that before, that's true).

EARLY ACCESS REVIEW
POSTED ON FEBRUARY 26

This game was never anything out of this world. The only cool thing about it was terraforming. You could spend hours re-forming the entire map. That was it. It was tolerable as long as you played it with mods.
The list of bugs has been there forever and it keeps growing. 744 at the time of writing this review.
James Bendon has always treated his buyers poorly. He never talks to the game's community on Steam. I've read that he talks to a select few on Discord (I don't use Discord).
If the game is sold on Steam, I find it reasonable that he at least stops by here from time to time.
His latest move has been to sell us to Krafton (Tencent). You accept a third party EULA or you can't open your game again. A game I bought TWO YEARS ago.
Without bothering to tell us. We found it out of the blue. But of course, James Bendon doesn't talk to rabble.
There is no way out. No negotiations of any kind. No compensations, not even partial. You accept, or trash the game away.
THIS game, which is still in EARLY ACCESS, is in no way worth the inconvenience of accepting a third-party EULA. Period.
James Bendon is now working with Krafton on developing a mobile spin-off to be called Dinkum Together (wich is where the money is). As much as some people want to believe otherwise.
In my humble opinion, THIS game is already dead, some people just don't want to realize it. Long live Dinkum Together, for anyone who wants it.
I will never buy anything from this trickster again.

Game is like an Australian harvest moon animal crossing, it's awesome. I got 99.9 hours in right now, waiting for more content, there is some new stuff I still need to check out but I'm waiting for enough to come out to be worth stopping back in. It certainly feels like a relatively finished game at this point. If this wasn't an EA title I would be perfectly okay with the content it has so far as a finished product. The game has more content than the newest animal crossing launched with, and that was a full price title.

JB has always served and continues to serve his community whenever he is not too busy with his work. I've seen him respond to tickets on Discord regarding save issues and, at the same time, explain why certain bugs occur during these saves, which has helped deploy fixes.

Of course, he can't respond to everyone on Discord. Otherwise, he would never have had the time to find a partner like Krafton to continue developing his brand. Can you imagine responding to every request while being alone on a project? Personally, I couldn't.

Whether you agree with or disapprove of a change, it’s his work, he decides. There is enough text explaining that it’s an early access title in constant development, meaning some things may change or not.

We are all consumers of a Steam product, where Steam enforces its policies. Otherwise, we wouldn’t even know about any EULA changes or the obligation to acknowledge them before playing again.

I agree that the day the announcement regarding the data transfer was published on Steam, It was poorly handled IMO, and it raised many questions on the discussion forum, as well as numerous opinions or 'expert' theories, just like you can find on any topic on any social network. Fortunately, there was a FAQ later on and people with common sense to answer the many questions.

But here again, you present your point of view as an absolute reality when it is merely your perception, which leads to the same debate being repeated across multiple topics on the forum. I would ask you to stop doing so. (This request comes solely from my own initiative, as I do not want you to make up another false story.)

To answer the OP, the game has a lot of content for an early access game. I wouldn't say you can get lost in it, but there’s plenty to keep us busy and spend hours without even realizing it. If you enjoy relaxing games like Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing, you’ll probably like Dinkum.

Ask Govalth how he did it. HE'S SMARTER THAN YOU and he did find my review. You'll see it's from February 26, 2025.
And for both of you, very well and OK. Sign what you want. Play what you want. If James Bendon is more active on Discord, great. I bought this thing on Steam and it seemed reasonable to me that he would stop by here from time to time. At least to say hello. NOW I DON'T CARE ANYMORE. I've uninstalled his thing and no way I'm going to buy anything else from this ... guy.

Well, I had written a very nice reply telling 100% Recycled Awsome all the bugs and glitches that the game has, so that he can rest assured and be satisfied that I know them all. But they deleted my post, for being inappropriate. So, nothing, no way.

It's a troll and kind of a bad one at that. I've stopped directly responding to them when their pathological lying has gotten so bad.

It's pretty bad when he mentions another poster finding a review when that same poster said nothing about the review. The lies are so blatant and poorly constructed. And saying you have to check a box to see all reviews? That's literally not the interface at all. Lying about things that are incredibly easy to check is just pathetic. Seems like they're just out to rile people up and don't care about the truth to the point they will engage in rabid falsehoods that take less than 15 seconds to disprove.
