Farm Animals Get Poisoned Randomly
I have no idea why but lately it seems that every now and then a farm animal will get poisoned. I don't have their homes set by the water, so i know they couldn't have been stung. I don't know if i'm doing something wrong or its a glitch. Anyone else experience this?

They're sick. Does each animal have a house? And do you clean them when they have dirt coming off them?

Also consider getting animal showers. For everyone with tiny animal areas, may the dinkum gods have mercy on your towns. These things cause serious traffic jams even in moderately large farm animal pens.

Have you been cleaning them with a brush?

I have, but not everyday, maybe that's why.

I think i'm just not brushing them enough
maybe the sick state should look differently than the poisoned state, just to not mix up those two. a different color would be already helpful.

also brushing daily is really asking a bit too much, i am already feeding them daily (as long i have not the silo) & petting them daily one by one by one & now on top the daily brushing. automation is not really a solution, it kills the gameplay, happens already with farming, in the beginning it's an endless, joyless grind while in the end it's a joyless raking in useless millions. at least that brushing every few days should be enough for the animals not to get sick, maybe a week without brushing should result in dirt, then half a week later, so 10 days without brushing they get sick. while if brushed once inbetween should just reset the timer.

It's also terrible in that to craft animal showers that will automate this, you'll need a watering can. But rayne only sells one a day. So if you have a big animal farm, this will take more than half a season to get enough. Assuming you have the opals too. Daily grinding just to get watering cans is annoying AF.

The limitation on daily tool sales is becoming extra problematic.

what do you mean ? what limitation on daily tool sales ?

ah, i think i understand, you mean that Rayne sells only one watering can per day ...

phew, for a sec i thought there is a limit on what i can sell to John per day on crafted tools. that would have been devastating for my weapons blacksmith.

yep.

i am currently building a huge farm with my hunter/trapper save, planned as beginning for 2 vombats & 2 pleeps, will see how that goes. so not looking forward to those showers. at least one good thing is with that save, it's an old one where everybody is moved in but the airport & quarries produce iron.
i wouldn't have made that animal farm at all if i didn't need that cloth for the airport, i was pretty content with the daily routine as hunter/trapper. as i wrote, that sickness update is not really gameplay improvement, just more joyless grind.

Yep. I can deal with John's limits on tools because there are ways to keep those tools in use via repair, upgrades, or crab soup. Or just do something that day that doesn't use that tool. Or use the power tool version.

But the watering can, I need a large number and I need them all now.

I got 18 vombats, 18 chooks, and 13 pleeps. It was such a grind to get animal showers in sufficient numbers to clean these animals 😬

i always miss Rayne's opening hours. & it's always Friday where i want to buy something, lol.

if you do that shower thing only in one save, then it's bearable, but if you want to repeat that in several saves, that's where it becomes a total grind, rinse & repeat. it's similar to those iron sprinklers but the sprinklers are at least craftable. would be nice to have a craftable watering can. we have a craftable animal feeder, so it wouldn't be that different.

wow.

i have one save with a chook farmer, but she's pretty at the beginning first, having maybe 6, the plan was to have the town fenced in & the chooks roam free through the town. was a good move from me not to pump more chooks in but to put that save on a back burner to have a better planning for that town layout. that was before the sickness update. now i will have to deal with those showers oc on top of the feeders & silos & coops. but at least Rayne is moved in.

i don't even know how i have to deal with that sickness in all those saves where the enclosures are smalish or far away.

wow.

Here's what it looked like pre animal shower:

The pleeps was easiest to adjust. The chooks are cramped but working and the vombats are more spaced out than the chooks but as spacious as the pleeps.

Trying to figure out a good layout but at least I have plenty of space to the side and up north to expand. I gotta move the roo poo farm though. May just get rid of it entirely as I have 15k fertilizer as it is. But you can see why manually brushing each animal isn't viable. Just too many!
