Marking spots
seriously whats the point of even bothering to mark a spot when you go back the next day what you marked for is gone!!!! i marked 3 places for copper/tin ore & after sleeping & coming back there was no ore to mine so i wasted my time & it had to be when i needed the ore most so thanks a damn lot....

You marked the rough soil? I think it only has a chance of spawning new ores daily, so it's not guaranteed they do.

Ore should not despawn on the surface unless someone mined it and it respawns very slowly on the surface on rough soil.

Ores don't despawn on their own. Are you playing with mods?

Try restarting your game. I've never had that happen, so something weird happened there.

no i am not playing with mods & the game had already been reloaded since then with no ores there as i had to go out so turned game off
And you marked the correct spaces on your map? It's supper easy to mark farther away than you think you are when you zoom out on the map. Or accidentally mark where your cursor is when you open the map instead of the spot you actually wanted to mark.

yes as i have the trick of standing in the spot & marking it where i am,safer that way
it takes several days for ores to respawn. no use to check every day.

that's why there is the artificial Mine, the Quarry made by Franklyn. find a good flat spot without grass or make one, order from Franklyn at least 4-9 of those Quarries & those respawn every day on all 4 sides stuff around them, so you can mine either every day or every 4th day. they give ore & tech treasure, sometimes buried tech treasure. if you really need ore, especially iron ore those Quarries are the way
or
you use the Deep Mine. there you find all kinds of ore easily in droves. even if you are not keen on fighting biests in the Deep Mine, you can buy the Peaceful Wish on your Wish Fountain, then you can mine till you drop.
