but yes, NPCs cheat, they remain in the town but manage to score high points. not just John.
I could have sworn i seen them running around with nets occasionally during comp.
Unless you're like me and zone out and catch way too many fish/bugs than there is needed to win gold, giving 0 chance to the NPCs
I never thought it was hard to get gold in spring. Autumn maybe as there are fewer bugs, but with the bountiful wish, the NPCS don't stand a chance:

But there are reasons to get at least one bronze and silver:

The issue with bronze and silver is that because NPC scores are unpredictable, landing in between for silver or just enough not to get kicked out of the medals for bronze can be difficult.
