Yes, crops that can be harvested will have shiny particles surrounding it.

Tried harvesting it using scythe (shiny particles present) and it cut off the plant itself. I needed to buy another batch of seeds coz of it. I think wheats are 'consumable' unlike tomatoes that u can just right click to get the fruit without damaging the plant itself. Or maybe I harvested it wrong?

Yeah, some crops need to be harvested, like tomatoes. Crops like carrots, grain and corn can be harvested with a scythe.

Don't harvest the corn with a scythe, this destroys the plant. After your first corn harvest the plant produces 2 corn every 6 days.

Wheat needs to be cut down and replanted everytime, but one seed produces 2 wheat.

Rayne tells you what about the seeds, when you click on them in the shop, so you know how long they take and which ones produces multiple harvests.
