The Whistle...

So it's happened twice now. I'm walking by the ocean and there's a VERY loud high pitched whistle. Not the bird sounds, and not the whistle that plays with the music every once in a while. No, this is a loud, cat-call-like whistle. I've looked around for a source. Didn't notice any birds in the area, and couldn't find anything else to cause it? Hell, since it was near the ocean both times, I was even looking for mermaids!

Anyone else encounter this, or know what it is? Is it just a bug, or is something in the ocean calling me. ((O_O))

idk what you heard but i have come across a NPC with a metal helmet wandering the beach in the rain calling himself a hunter, he sold some expensive weapons and bought animal drops

Yep, it's Ted Selly, he sells high end weapons, lures and buys bugs/fish/animal drops for a higher price.

I heard a loud "Cooee" while travelling back to town the other night. Freaked me out as I didn't realise there were any travelling NPCs. I didn't stop to investigate because a Cassowary was chasing me.

Is he constantly on the move, or is there a certain area/time he can be found in?

On rainy days by the shore, beyond that it seems to be random. Just run around the edge of your island on rainy days until you hear a loud whistle. He'll be somewhere near by.

Oh. Bugger. It was dark so I got scared and ran back to my house! 🤦🏼‍♀️ I've slept now so I can't even wander back to where I heard it! Ted Selly, you say... I'll remember that next time.

ned kelly has a random chance of showing up any day after 12pm anywhere on your island.
you will hear a whistle and he will walk around the area you heard it.
