Getting john to stay issue/bug?

So, i got the quest to make john stay by having to do tasks for him to make hi mstay maybe... So i went to him and aksed if there was anything to do for him and he says.... get me a bag of cement.... watching youtube videos, appearantly i need sum sort of grinder to get a bag of cement but as i have just started, i am not that far into it to have such a thing yet so i can't make a bag of cement so i can't finish his quest....

Is this sum sort of bug??? Why woul dhe ask me to make a bag of cement when i can't yet due to have early i still am in quest progress to unlock it...

You can find tin sheets in barrels and in the ground with the metal detector.

Awesome. I did get some thanks to an earlier poster saying put the tin bar through the saw blade.

i had johns quest bug out on me once too after asking for a fish, he also refused (reverted to non quest state) past 6pm, not sure yet if its a time based issue or location.

You have to finish quests by the end of the day. 6pm seems a bit early for that.

Ok that proofs, that I'm too stupid for this game.
Without any hint I would never get to the idea, that a saw blade for wood, could also cut bars into sheets! Was looking for how to unlock it since hours now...

John sells a manual in the shop that tells you what can go in any machine, it's super helpful. Also, if you don't need that tin sheet anymore, toss it in the furnace to turn it back into a bar.

I only have Johns tent and the only thing left to buy is bbq. I can't find any other chat options to get a manual. In order to get his real shop I already need 2 sheets.

Tin sheets are made on the table saw. They are also "treasure" loot, meaning you can find them by digging up random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ from the ground.

John is asking me for a bag of cement as well. I cannot apply for a deed to make his shop permanent. It says I need 5 residents. I'm on the quest called Convince John to Stay. The favor the bag of cement which I cannot obtain till he is permanent.

I tried advancing the day. Selling tons of items, and trying to find a way to abandon the mission to see if he has something else to offer me besides a bag of cement. None of it is working.

Does anybody have an actual solution to this that is legitimate?

(Edit. Apparently if you advance the day again he will have a new task for you. The next one I got was to go to some area called The Pines and catch a fly. I don't have any idea where that is...)

Seems like this might be a cycle of impossible to do quests

(Advanced the day again: Bag of Cement. My guess is keep trying till he gives you something that is possible.)

If you press M you get map up, hover over areas with your mouse and you'll see what areas are the pines, to catch a fly you need the bug net Fletch gave you.
The pines are the darker green areas with pine trees growing there. If you run to the left of the map you'll encounter that area.

To make cement you need the stone grinder which you cannot get until you have him as a permanent villager.

He won't leave until you make him permanent so don't stress about it. Other visiting villagers will only stay for one day though and then show up every other day.
