Planting seeds?

I had a daily task to plant four wild seeds. I have seeds, but I cannot figure out how to plant them. I bought the excavation license just to buy the shovel thinking that would help, it didn't.

Any ideas?

Dig a hole in the ground. Drop the seed. Dig dirt over it. Took me longer than it should have to figure out.

Oh my gosh, yeah it's pretty embarrassing that I didn't figure that out on my own. Luckily, posted, I just got the same task again.

Don't feel embarrassed, it took me a while to figure out how to drop the seeds in the hole.

You can do that with Fruit, too. Good way to set up early game food.

Omg, thank you! I kept trying to click on the hole, I didn't think to drop it in there, lol. Some tutorials ingame is needed I think. I got the farming licence but I couldn't find any farming tools to make, lol.

I buried grass seed (and tree seeds as well) but no credit for the task and no grass "plants" I also tried using the hoe (behave yourself please) and no luck.
Has something changed in the game to accomplish this?

Grass seeds can be placed normally on the ground. It's either Right/Left click, or R/L on a controller.

I believe it's dependent on the type of ground, so it will only work on dirt.

I have no problem planting any other crops, bushes, fruit etc. So I think I have the drop function down. I have also cut grass, picked up the seed, dug a hole in same place dropped seed and buried...no luck. Next attempt I will make sure I do not put it in the same place (maybe thats the problem)
UPDATE: got it to work, right trigger without using hoe to prep.

I had this same task, to plant wild seeds. planted every kind of seed i could find but never finished the task. i thought it was because i wasn't planting the right kind of seed. so is it dependent more on what type of ground you plant in?

Wild seeds are grass seeds or tropical gras seeds. Your task is to not to plant them but to "do" them on the ground. ;)

I found that the key was not to "plant" like crops, trees or bushes. Dont "drop" the seed, right trigger "plant" it without first using the hoe.

wait... you plant grass by going through the same process (clicking with it on the ground, like with crop seed) without either using the hoe first NOR burying it? No wonder I can't get tropical grass into my village... lolz
