Hi, Question

New player,

I like what I'm seeing so far, I'm I missing a hands free option through... my character is always holding something.

Less annoying since I got the bug catcher, but it feels odd to talk to people with my hands full

If you empty a space on your hot/use bar and then select it, it goes to empty hands

i recall, i asked for a reserved one spot free in the toolbelt as a new player
i suppose you'll have to free it constantly by hand

the good news is, you get several upgrades to your toolbelt & inventory, so it get a bit easier to keep toolbelt more clutter free

yes, indeed it happens. i empty regularly my Toolbelt as much i can & if there is simply no space left i prefer to put into the Toolbelt something not dangerous & keep that in hand.
