they are a mid to late game item
you can always make more then one and have a pocket full that you recharge all at once.
personally I prefer the battle shovel and I have 3 of them on rotation for repairing.
If the repair kits are too expensive for you, then your problem isn't weapon durability it's your ability to make the money to purchase them.
- set up auto trappers and lure crocos into them on the daily (8 traps will net about 70,000 dinks)
- make a jam factory and sell them to Sheila ( I got just under 500,000 for 50 jams)
- raise vombats and pleeps (full heart vombats give about 50,000 and full hearts pleeps give about 82,000 )
- catch fish and cook them (Ted Selly will pay more then John for cooked fish and Sheila will pay more then anyone for it too)
all the above are examples of how 30,000 dinks to repair a weapon is not difficult to achieve.
If you are swimming in Dinks and still think repairing alpha weapons is a problem, then that can mean that you are in the mines on the daily or just fight all the time, All I can suggest is to use more then one weapon and get a feel for how that fits your daily needs.
Different weapons are more effective against different agro mobs. If you are needing alot of fire attacks, then take an extra fire weapon. Mixing fire with other weapon attacks works well too. And the hammer is a good way to push mobs back and even though it is slow it is the best area attack weapon.
Also never underestimate the Food Buffs to add damage and defence. These will also save on your weapons durability by helping to kill mobs with less hits.
have fun and be well
Your alpha weapons are down to nearly nothing from full after a few hits? How is this possible? I can go two mine runs with massive use of the alpha hammer before needing to repair those.
For me it keeps me respectful of the weapon, and mindful of the chance it may break. This means I have to think about the fights I enter into and not just mindlessly kill everything I see.
The Alpha bat and spear are not effective weapons in melee combat. The battle shovel is more satisfying to use and much better then an iron spear as it has a chance to stun and does sweeping attack on multiple mobs. And like I said, if you are surrounded by grubs in the 2nd level deep mine the alpha hammer is the best weapon to take out the nest and the spawned in grubs.
The hammer is amazing in the undergrowth. Everywhere else, it's kind of meh though.
Are you getting knocked out? Because that would dramatically damage your gear like that. Otherwise, the bat and spear should be able to be used quite a bit before needing repair.
