Are rubies more rare now?

Been playing and checking out the new update. I remember being able to find 3+ rubies in addition to all the iron and rooms I would go in before. I've now gone in twice and didn't do anything but run around looking for rubies and found 1. So to get to the new mines it cost 75,000 dinks which got 1 piece of the new ore.

Rubies are now sometimes found in their own treasure rooms. So that might be giving you some issues.

I know right? Urgh, I had 300+ keys before this update. Now I'm down to 177 and that's with all I find including raiding the rivers.

So apparently the game has been putting buried tech into rivers ALL THIS TIME but was very difficult for people to get to that tech as they'd have to fill in rivers. With the diving helmet, you can metal detect in river beds and I cannot go more than two steps without the metal detector going nuts. I saw that tip in some YouTube channel and it's totally legit. Just pick an area free of crocs before doing it.

just found a room with a ruby though on my 4th trip so thanks for that

Sometimes you just get a terrible mine layout and it's just best to restart. I almost restarted an undergrowth one but then I found 3 berkonium, so that ended any thought of restarting. Hahhaha. I'm not concerned about money anymore as I have 433 million dink, but the shards are just harder to get. A bad undergrowth run is not worth 4 shards. It wouldn't be so bad if we could buy multiple shards off Jimmy, although it would be 185,000 dink to go into the mines that way. Yikes.

I'm little underwhelmed how the dev didn't add new items to the regular mine's treasure loot system and all of the new stuff went into the new mine level.

Good to know thank you 100%, I haven't been to the mines at all since update. Just been working on builds on my old island and unlocking early game on my new one. Not able to host multiplayer is disappointing and stopping me from trying out mines for the moment.

I made 3 trips to the undergrowth with that, I did cheese a bit because I had a friend open his world on multiplayer so I could take the keys I had on my old world, and transfer them to my new one. I have dug up over 200 treasures, I hardly got any keys at all. Maybe the drop rate for keys is lowered? I never got so few before.

I found a couple crab pots in the recycling bin, I had never used them before. I decided to try them out. I get more keys from the 2 crab pots, then I do digging up stuff. It's nuts.

Ya, the next time I went down I only found 1, I just reset that day. Went down a couple of in game days later and in that run I found 7. So I was thrilled with that run! Ya I saw you could buy keys, but they are super expensive! Especially when you are on a new world. Eventually I will be able to suck up the cost of those lol.

I found 5 of them in the first run of a new playthrough, I dont think spawn rate was reduced.
