Fish Pond (for those stuck!)
Just trying to bump it up the search algorithm, since it's mentioned in one other Steam Discussions post and virtually nowhere else, but it took way too long for me to figure out that the Fish Pond won't start producing more than a single roe unless you have an absolute minimum of three fish in that pond.

You'd think two Marlin in a fish pond would work, but no. After a straight in-game week of only having a single roe, finding the above mentioned post and adding in a third Marlin, suddenly I have extra roe.

Anyone with a FandomWiki account, please update the page for us! "The fish pond will generate fish roe over time based on the rarity of the fish in it." needs an addendum of "..but will not generate any additional roe unless the minimum amount of fish in the pond is 3."

Fishponds work as described in the wiki. Marlin, like other rare fish produce very slowly, so if you only have a few, you could get zero roe a day. I takes 4 marlin generally well over a week to get to 15, if not longer. So the issue you're facing is that you are trying to farm rare fish.

1 jungle perch can produce 3-4 roe by itself. Try it yourself. Replace the marlin with a common fish like barcoo grunter or jungle perch and you'll get roe even with one fish.

Other fish were also only producing a single roe per day, that's the thing. I had two ponds, the other holding a Rainbow Fish, and it also only had one roe after the straight week.

And the fact the Marlin only started spawning more roe the day after popping in a third after a straight in-game week was a big tell.

Are you feeding them daily? Try it with a really common fish like a grunter. I guarantee you that one common fish will produce roe.

I was indeed feeding them daily! So, you're absolutely right, it's that I was either experiencing some brutally horrific RNG for the roe spawning, or the ponds were bugged for a time before popping in that third Marlin - my rainbow fish is now producing roe on its own after having fished it out and put it back it for a few days.

Sounds like a bug. Should report it so the dev can fix it.
