Where do you like to build your town?

I've apparently spent the first 3 hours of owning this game just trying out different maps and haven't even found something I want to settle on yet, so I'm kind of looking for inspiration or ideas from people who have played the game. I know I want to settle at least somewhat near a tower since I like how they look, but other than that...not sure.

I was considering trying to find a coastal area with a good river that cuts through a good chunk of the map but I'm honestly pretty undecided. Maybe try to find something like a bay and build encircling it? I know I don't want the town to be landlocked, I love boardwalks/docks so either the coast or a large enough lake is a must, but I've had so much trouble finding a good area.

How quickly do you unlock terraforming? The biggest issue so far has been the few beach areas that looked really good were also quite small due to cliffs, so if I could just mow those down it would help. I think somebody said there were only 10 or so buildings so I guess a decently sized island could also be an option maybe?

I like the center as it's easy access to all 4 corners.......Later game you can also go up in your heli and just hang while you wait to see the meteor. You can easily see this from the center of your island. If you want to be near certain items there may be better locations, IE i trap bush devils so i like being close to the pine forest.....same would be true if you want to trap wary mu's. Once you have all the teleporters, it's real easy to get to any biome.

Either in the middle or near a teleporter located on a larger land mass.

You eventually get a fifth teleport which lets you easily get around if you place your town in the middle of the map.
