Dinkum
Lagging/Staggering Issues on high end PC
I am not sure why, but after not playing Dinkum for several weeks, I decided to jump back into it. I am getting some rough staggering/lagging when walking around my island. THis was never an issue before. I have tried all sorts of things, including un-installing the game and re-installing it. I have also jumped into NVIDIA Ge force experience and optimized the settings there just to give it a whirl. I have also lowered the graphics inside the game, and it still has issues. My much weaker Laptop has no issues, and I have no issues on my steam deck. I mean, it's not an exactly demanding game....

Here are my specs:

AMD 3950X CPU
NVIDIA 2080ti GPU
32GB Ram
2 internal M.2 PCIe Gen 4 SSDs - One for my OS and one where all my games are store.

Anyone else having any issue?

Hiya, I was having the same issues too after the Summer update. After some testing I figured it only lagged/staggered when set to High or Med graphics settings. On Low it solves the issue I also found two other ways to fix it.

1. Simply put the game into Window mode solved it and can put the graphics back to High no longer any issues.

2. In Steam library on Dinkums page click on the little cog settings go to files tab and than browse, in there rick click the Dinkum than properties than the "compatibility" tab, there click "disable full screen optimizations"

That should allow you to run the game the way you had it, at least fixed it for me. hope it helps others and maybe even the dev to help pin point the issue even.

Also this can work for most game, sometimes it helps to disable that other times it makes no difference.

Thanks for the reply! I did not try any of these yet, but all I did was go back into the NVIDIA GeForce Experience app and reset the settings to optimize. For some reason, they did not hold well the first time. It seems to have fixed the issue. I am not 100% sure yet though. I have not gotten a chance to play it much since I discovered the issue. If doing this did not solve the issue, I will give your methods a try as well.

Thank you for taking the time to repsond!

It's back to lagging again. I should also mention I am on a Ultra wide screen. I am at 3440 x 1440 res and 21:9 aspect ratio. This was never a problem before the last update, however. Putting it into windowed mode also did not help.

It's was back to lagging again, so I tried your method. I unchecked the full screen optimization in comparability mode, and then started the game up. Switched it to Windowed mode, and it was fine. Then I switched it back to full screen, and it played fine without the lag. Seems to be a safe workaround for the time being.

I decided to hop back for the update, too, and my game suddenly started restarting my whole PC. It was working fine for an ingame day or two. After it started to crash more frequently. After around the third ingame day it decided from now on it just restart my PC straight away, I barely even have time to open the settings in the menu, I don't even have time to click on anything. :<

Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble. I have not experienced any of this myself, just the lagging/stuttering. But the work around posted above seems to have helped it, at least for the first time I tried it. I have not had a lot of time to play the last couple of days to make sure it has solved the issues.

I need to do a search and see where I can do bug reporting. I wanna send the info to the creator so he can potentially have bug logs to fix. I wanna see the game continue to grow for sure!
I am having the same issue, running a 4070TI, 64gb ram, I7 processor, i have tried all setting configurations. i have tried different resolutions, tried compatibility. nothing. The update must have really unoptimised this game.

any help from the devs??

i can run UE5 on ultra with high ray tracing but dinkum gives my pc a run for its money :P

Try Maiken Mayhem's work around. It worked for me.

Go to Dinkum in your Steam library. Click on the cog wheel for settings. Then Manage>Browse Local Files. It will open the file explorer folder. In there, right click on the Dinkum.exe file and click "Properties". If you're on Windows 11, click the annoying "Show more Options" then click on Properties.

Then click on the Comparability tab, and check the box that says "Disable Full Screen Optimizations".

Then start Dinkum. In the options menu, switch to Windowed mode. Start your game. You should be able to play in Windowed mode without issues, but that drives me nuts so I took it a step further.

For me, I was in Windowed mode without lag, and then went back into options and put it back in full screen mode, and it was running flawless. Now every time I start the game in full screen mode, it works great without having to go back to windowed mode. Give that a whirl!
