I need hardwood for the band stand. Where can I find some? Thanks.

Blackwood Trees found in the Bushlands near a Billabong, or Pine Trees found in the Pine Forest. You may get lucky and find a beehive or two when you chop down Blackwood trees. Sell them to John by putting them on his scale or break them and catch the queen bee to make beehives.

you will need a copper axe or better to cu them down.....they are in the pine forest and bushlands

Okay. How do I get a cooper axe?

Cut down enough trees with your basic ax and Fletch will send you a letter in the mail letting you know that she has a new Logging Licence Level 2 for you. Get that new license from Fletch with Permit Points and then you can upgrade your basic ax to copper from your crafting table. You'll need 2 copper bars and a basic ax for the copper ax upgrade.

ETA: Just to make sure Fletch hasn't offered it yet, check with her to see what licences are available. If it's not there, keeping using your basic ax, until she lets you know she's offering an upgrade.

You can get hardwood planks from Bottle tree wood. You can chop down bottle trees with a basic axe, but it will take quite a few wacks. But Bottle trees don't drop seeds. so after you chop them down, they're gone for good. Unless you get lucky and find a Bottle tree seed in the recycling bin.

You're very welcome. You need the upgraded tools for harder materials but more importantly upgraded tools takes fewer hits which conserves stamina. Good Luck and enjoy playing the game.

Wait, what recycling bin? I'm early in the game -- only have three 'residents' -- so maybe it arrives/becomes available later. I know John has a scale in his shop for weighing things, but despite the fact that the scale looks an awful lot like a recycling station I haven't been able to interact with it.
