You get there by smashing a ruby into shards. Each ruby (from the first mine level) gets you three shards. You need to place four in the console next to there regular mine console to go into the undergrowth, the second mine level where it's plant based. There vines are everywhere and marble is noted by small white spots on dirt.
You need to be seriously prepared for the undergrowth as it's a much more difficult mine level than the first mine.
I wouldn't recommend going down there without an alpha hammer, two battle shovels, hang glider, and a chainsaw. Also, even the best fighters in Dinkum can get overwhelmed when 3 or 4 poison frillies come at them at the same time.
Cooked croc meat, sausage rolls, and if you have it, prime roast, along with big fried eggs for food.
The undergrowth mine can get real intense real fast with four way fights between the plant chompers, grubs, frillies, and players.
Collect 4 "ruby shards" not 4 rubies. A ruby can be hacked up to get shards which are then inserted in the new machine in the elevator which sets the level down to the Undergrowth.
As above, a pick is not much good by itself in the "Petrified Forest" so an axe and a pick are both needed. The best weapons you have and the best foods. Be prepared to get masacred the 1st trip so dont take any dinks and you wont lose anything.
I started a new town, so no where near ready to go down there yet, but I do have to ask. Why a hang glider?
Easier to fly over the big rivers and the only way to not get mauled when 3+ poison frillies pack hunt you. Those things are relentless and keep chasing you unlike the enemies in the original mine. They're also incredibly fast. Also you can't eat to heal when you get hit by them as they temporarily poison you.
So being pack hunted by poison inducing super fast hostiles, with little room to maneuver, who stop you from healing doesn't give you many options but to take to the air. Plus, it's faster to get out of the mines when midnight approaches.
I fought 4 crocs at the same time, two alpha roos at the same time (they work together, I thought they'd fight lol) without issues, but these poison frillies in packs are on a whole different level of intense. The glider gives you way more manuverability in combat.
You definitely won't run into a pack of poison frillies every mine run, but when you do, you're going to be cursing not having a glider. You can't stun and kill all of them before the stun wears off and you probably won't pass out after defeating them if you're good at combat, but you're going to be in bad shape after that encounter. The big streamers showing the beta were all getting mauled when the number of frillies exceeded two at a time.
Ahhh, sounds fun lol. Thanks for answering, I will be sure to keep that in mind for future reference.
