I wrote anywhere that I am against a larger map. I just wrote that it is unnecessary in this game. At least in my opinion.
There isn't anything in this game right now that would make it interesting to be discovered. I don't see why I need a bigger map to explore when there's nothing to explore.
If someone needs more building space, a bigger map would make sense, or if a lot more biomes are coming out and so the biomes don't have enough space to expand, if they want to bring NPC cities into play that you can visit, or if four or more players Playing on an island and they need more space. Or if the developer brings out other things that can be discovered apart from: clothing, furniture, animals, plants and tools. You can already find that stuff in dungeons and shops. I wouldn't be tempted to search a world for these things. That would have to be the ruins of a past civilization, adventures, new civilizations or races, something like that.
With the current gameplay, a larger map just doesn't make sense. I wouldn't care if they put out a bigger map either. So nothing against it, just unnecessary.
Oh, and please dont call me Dude. I dont know why but i dont like it. If you must call me Bro but i would Prefer a Simple "you" or "VN".
Well what your really saying is that it is "unnecessary for you" Isn't that a bit selfish !
What is interesting or not about what other player like to do in their game is not up to you to decide and by the way how can you gonna know when the reason can be so many !
No one is forcing you to discover the entire map or explore it "even if the map was twice as small" and i am pretty sure the developer can make the totally map much more interesting "regardless of size or not" if that was the case but that is not what this case is about.
Basically if you are happy with the map size as it it then it is good for you but that do not make all other happy about the map size and that is the reason why this thread is created where i can't see anything wrong about asking for a bigger map regardless if that suit me or not or you where the actual intention for the developer should be to make everyone happy regardless of how much and where they wanna build and how much they wanna discover and do on their gameplay where a larger map make very sense for those who want it and for those who don't want it they can still do exactly what they want in their own gameplay.
PS:
"Bro" from the country i came from has a much deeper meaning than a "dude"/person i don`t know.
Anyway take care VaeliusNoctu :)
Someone creates a topic and others comment on it.
As long as it Remains Respectful, you can agree or disagree with the creator's opinion.
It's a discussion on a topic and I found it interesting enough to participate.
Unfortunately, the topic has meanwhile drifted in a direction where it is no longer about the topic itself but more about who is right with his opinion. But that is irrelevant because every opinion has its right to exist.
If Anyone Wants a Bigger Map? Why not? If someone doesn't want it and it comes out, the person can generate the map smaller or just not explore it completely.
There is no reason to defend a point of view. I just find it interesting to delve into the topic, or found it interesting until recently. That's why I made suggestions on how to make a larger map interesting so that it's fun to explore.
But I'm not interested in a fundamental discussion about who is right. That's a waste of time. I've already written enough on the subject.
Everyone who still wants to continue writing here.
Have fun!
You wrote against larger map because "you said there isn't anything in this game right now that would make it interesting "for you" to be discovered and that "you" don't see "why we need a bigger map" to explore when there's nothing to explore" //-// where it sounds as if you could have done with a map twice as small where i again wanna point out this is not only about exploring.
Well the reason why a bigger map is desired is not only about exploring but can be so much more dependent on what is desired for the individual player so why wote it down, do a larger map gonna destroy your gameplay or do a option for a larger map size selection at startup gonna destroy your gameplay ?
Having a big map and actually spreading your town around it makes it very hard to maintain relationships with the NPCs to prevent the decay of hearts. My town's NPCs are compact and I can run down a few streets and talk to all of them. I've realized you just need to have a chat with them every other day to maintain 5 hearts, occasionally doing tasks for them, either directly from chatting or from the bulletin board. I see people's builds with NPCs flung across the map and pity them. All their work they put into making their builds nice and big is actually quite detrimental to keeping all of the hearts they spent so long building up.
My megastructures are all outside of the core NPC town area, so I get the desire for big maps, but I also recognize that many players aren't incorporating the new decay into their builds. I hope that James fixes the decay rate to like 1/2 a heart over an entire season rather than the current relatively fast decay. I had Ted Selly at 5 hearts and he's down to half of that in half of winter and half of spring. That's pretty fast decay.
- About the npc issue which is little annoying where they is able to go across the map should not happen and it should be an easy fix on it and to make tracker on them so that they show up on the map should also make it much more easy as well and that they all spawn in their own house every day no matter will resolv a lot of issue in this game.
100% Recycled Awesome why not make a thread about all those npc issue on the suggestion thread where i am sure many players wanna be happy about :)
Anyway a bigger map "now" for a larger size selection at startup should not be an obstacle to anything if these improvements are not implemented which can be done at a later stage.
Agree, feels small and samey. Would be nice if they add islands to visit with even another town or something. Gets pretty old quick
My brother and I played it for a little bit and it didn't take long to explore the full map as it currently is. I personally would like a larger map option for just a bit more exploration, perhaps with more dangerous creatures the farther you get from camp.
