Fences
To the people having trouble with fencing, I built a dirt fence high enough to be just over my head (so the Kangaroos etc. can't jump it) Then I put the basic fence around the outside. I also put some fence on top of the dirt fence, if you have it connected or close to another dirt fence. This way kangaroos etc. can't jump from one to another. So far this seems to be working well for me. None of my chicks got out and nothing has gotten in. I put up a dirt fence, same height, to keep the crocs from coming on land, and it has worked so far. I did have a problem with towns people walking through the dirt fences, so I put the basic fence around it also and that stopped them. Figured if they could walk through the walls, some animal might. I also take precautions to make sure no animal gets into the walls, and finds it's way into the farm. If your fence sits at two different heights, d/t level of dirt, they just walk in between. If one fence is intersecting with another, the only way that I have found, that will stop this (it stopped my towns people) is to make a small box 3x3 at the end of the higher fence, where they intersect. If the fences are going the same direction, I have no solution for that, other than to redo and make your fences on one level of dirt. Also, if you have a basic fence on one level of dirt, and the dirt that is on the outside is one level higher, the towns people just walk over it. So the dirt must be same level both sides and far enough (I do three blocks) away from the fence to keep roos from jumping it. I figured this out by watching the towns people and finding out how they are getting into the farm area. My chickens are totally surrounded by dirt fence, with basic fence on the inside and outside and on top of the dirt fence. This has worked. Easy to jump on top of your fence to get out of it. Also don't put anything near the edge of their pen, (like their hen house) that they could jump on top and use it to get out. Hopes this helps.

I just use a wooden fence and never had any trouble. I did remove the double stones so there are no Dingoes on my main island, but crocs can't get through even the crude wooden fence. I've largely flattened out my main island because I'm Human and we like to control nature. Lumpy land is not good for me, I like to farm and raise animals on flat land. I wasn't aware Roos could jump a man-made fence; I've never experienced that, but then I have cages dotted around my main island to capture wandering Roos.

I saw lots of people talking about their fences not working, so thought I would let them know what I have done. Mine works fine so far. I'm surrounded by lots of crocs, roos etc. Good to know your fences are working. I've been putting up some different fences and have been really hoping they work also. So far they have been. I have only had a roo jump over my dirt fences, if the fence is not taller than my character. They have not been able to jump my first primitive fence, and I have seen them try hard to hehe.
If you put a fence on top and on the side of the dirt fence, they can't get through.
Oh and make sure there is no way for them to climb up the side of the dirt fence or jump from one dirt fence to another etc.
