Short Finned Eel
i am trying to catch the Short Finned Eel, wiki says at "Night"
is "Night" before "Late" or after ?

When it says night you can start fishing once the sun goes down, if you are still trying when you reach late then you should try a new location on a different night.

that Eel is really rare. i caught it once a long time ago & it was by chance. that's why i don't even recall what time it was.

I found this, hope it helps you. The short finned eel can be caught in any season in a Billabong at night. If you mouse over the map it will show you what area your mouse is over. I believe in you, this fish is going to be caught!

Season Times
Each season has its own times for day and night.
It takes an hour for the sun to set.
The night starts after the sun finishes setting.

Summer
Morning: 7am - 11am
Day: 11am - 9pm
Night: 9pm - Late
Autumn
Morning: 7am - 11am
Day: 11am - 7pm
Night: 7pm - Late
Winter
Morning: 7am - 11am
Day: 11am - 6pm
Night: 6pm - Late
Spring
Morning: 7am - 11am
Day: 11am - 8pm
Night: 8pm - Late

For other Night fish I was always able to catch them during Late (or earlier, when I was lucky), but I think it might do something weird to the respawn rates. I once fished an entire Billabong empty while looking for a Saratoga and nothing there respawned until the next day.

SF Eel is not very difficult to find just look for a really skinny long fish :)

if there is no fish, so it cannot be skinny or otherwise

it may just be your island, i've started 7-8 islands and i have never had an issue finding the SF Eel

time to start your 9th, you might be finally lucky & get no Short Finned Eel this time around
