if you are this early game though consider being very careful with in the deep mine.
be very confident with your controls and ability to take out crocos and bush devils.
have food that increase your health and stamina (cooked croco meat or cooking table options)
have food that buffs your mining skill (wattle brew or cooking table options)
if you are only copper tools - you will take longer to mine stuff
upgrade to iron or power tools as soon as you can
you will want to have a bat zapper as soon as you can with a recharge station (bat zappers will break if you over use them) - see Ted Selly to make bug zapper and Franklyn for the charging station
You will need a source of light - mining helmet / torch made from crafting table or torch from John's shop - there is also a candle hat if you are lucky enough to come across one.
empty your dinks from your pockets (you can open your inventory and click on the total number of dinks to pick them up and place them in a create)
take old keys with you for treasure rooms
consider using a wheelbarrow or motor bike to carry more then one ruby back to mine shaft. however they can be popped into box form if attacked by aggro mobs
for your first few times expect to die - this will mean a hit on durability to all weapons and tools you are carrying and a penalty deduction from the Dinks you have on you. (that is why you put them in a create before you go)
Use your map to mark and locate the mine shaft when ready to return.
when you get used to it you still have a threat of death - so be on your toes.
Consider doing some mine runs with others - the deep mines are not so scary when you go with friends.
be sure to pick up any bat wings you find, they are useful if you come across the bat shrine
the deep mine is a 3x3 building that requires resources to make and mine pass from john to enter. it is like a dungeon crawl that changes every time you enter. it has a time limit, when it is Dinkum Late - it will begin to break down and poison you.
there are unique items to find in the deep mine that you can not find anywhere else in game.
