Cooked Croc Meat, big fried egg, cooked quongdong. That seems to be the meta these days.

Big fried egg provides lots of energy, cooked quongdong is a good pick me up for a slight boost to energy and health, and cooked croc meat provides a big health boost when you need it.

Wattle brew too, but that's most for when you need to use tools quickly.

I eat 2 cooked croco meats at the start of the day and top up as needed.
In the deep mines I eat either pasties or high quality cheese with wattle brew.

When I was new to the game I mostly ate meat on a stick and cooked Quandong

Sausage rolls are awesome for mining. Big boost to health, energy, along with attack, defense and a speed boost. Being able to quickly move through the mines, fight harder and take less damage is solid. The only thing better is probably Lamingtons as they have a mining and foraging boost but less defense boost and much less duration speed buff

Wow you folks have some awesome info, thank you so much. I've been having a hard time sorting out a good combination of stuff to carry in order to not waste backpack slots on a ton of different food items.

About Big Fried Egg: Is that a special recipe, or is it just what you get when cooking a big egg?

It's just when you cook a big egg. So super simply yet a high reward.

I have used cooked croc meat, but it seems like something tough to get in large quantities. Is there some way to really farm for it? Can be tough to find a ton of crocs to wreck.

You can find crocos in billabongs, rivers and lakes. Sometimes they spawn in threes. You can also see Ted Selly for croco baits.

Oh I heard about those - do they make crocos spawn, or just make existing ones come to the object?

I go against meta and carry Meat on a Stick (cheap, easy, quick heal ), Fruit salad (very cheap and easy energy bump with regen) and Wattle Brew or Jelly brew if I get lucky enough to get enough Jellies.
Croc meat is for mine crawls or alpha fights.
I've spent too many years on other fight games to find the fights in Dinkum to be that challenging. Fun, most certainly, but not really a challenge. Mostly it's just get behind them and whack 'em fast then run/jump out of the way. I find fighting the hot keys and their tendency to suddenly change me from spear to pick axe or similar to be more of a fight challenge....

Crocs are pretty easy for me to kill so I generally have alot. My main map, I have well 200 cooked croc meat in storage waiting to sell to Jimmy. I usually carry about 10 on me. Also, I tend to have about 3-4 crocs hanging out in the bay right outside of my town, so I made a kill zone for them. That's probably why I have so much croc meat. Hahaahh.

But cooked quongdong is really all you need for health boost if you don't take damage often. I only really use the cooked croc meat when fighting the alpha croc and even now I don't do that once I got the alpha bat and can rain fire down from a distance. Couple the alpha bat with the glider and it's the ultimate scoot and shoot.

my understanding is they spawn in - though I only saw the video on it from KD Gentlemen

Pavlova for major energy/health boosts and Fruit salad for little ones.
If I'm fighting a crocodile I usually boost my health beforehand by eating cooked croc meat.
Always have about 3 foods available on my toolbar if I'm fighting an alpha - just in case!

I usually hold on to meat stew and meat-based projects in case my residents offer to buy it off me for huge money.

i am lazy, so opt for the best effort/result ratio

i have constantly in inventory about 30 cooked Bananas + 30 cooked Apples
when going hunting, chopping trees, mining i use always the same combo :
2 x Dagwood Dog + 1 x cooked Croco meat
so have always about 30 Dagwood Dog + 30 cooked Croco meat

for Dagwood Dog is needed Corn, that's what i always plant
since Corn to grow needs time, until i have Dagwood Dog, i use Meat on a stick
here the corresponding Wiki page[dinkum.fandom.com]
