Allocating house to resident
I have built one of the three additional houses that are available in deeds from Fletch and I was hoping that one of my residents might make use of it but I don't know how to persuade them to move in. Is this possible and if not what is the point in building these extra houses? I am playing the single player game if that makes any difference. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

My guess is that these houses are made for multiplayer. Since you can play with max 4 people in party and you can build 4 houses on your island (1 your house and 3 additional deeds). It may change, it's still early access and who knows, maybe in the future you will be able to build houses for you villagers. Right not house deeds in singleplayer are just customization.

You can also use them for storage, which I do, or for decorating if that is what you are into.

Thanks a lot for your replies and help "Bilgot" and "Owly" In single player they are actually pretty useless then, wish I hadn't wasted my time building them but as you say it's early access and things could change. Seeing your residents walking around late at night when there's accommodation available is a bit of a pity!! Cheers

Not useless at all!
Turn your extra house into a storage and light crafting house. Verrry helpful, since as your popularity with the residents rises their inclination to mess around with your crafting area does too! I can't believe how many times I've had all my town residents stacked in front of which ever crafting machine or storage box I wanted to use and I just could NOT get them to move.
While you may not want to put your drop items, like Mu eggs or rubies, in the house or things that benefit from the windmill, all your food storage chests work great there and keep that idiot John from standing on them.

Thank you "bswain" but normally you build houses to be occupied by people not as storage or crafting facilities. If this was the intended use for them why not have deeds for a warehouse or crafting shop rather than houses? This is not a criticism as the game is good it's just an observation. Cheers.

as he said the extra houses were done mostly for the multiplayer. if you want to use it for something like crafting houses it's a good use even though you're not doing multiplayer.

I just use them for extra storage (wardrobes, chests of drawers etc - usually containing unwanted clothing I can give to the townspeople when they ask for it). I also decorate them in a themed way, eg one house is "Eastern" and regal in style, one is Nordic, one is Rattan-furnished. It's a shame we can't have at least two more houses to put the other themed decorations and furniture in. My own house is decorated Barbie pink. lmao

Maybe dev should change . I know I late to the party but when you purchase the deed for house,1 of 3, Fletch mentioned that they can be used for multiple reasons but they cannot even in single player.Would be nice to have residents you have in town now like Fletch, and John be able to live in one of the houses. Happy Gaming
