Birds destroying my crops
Hello fellow islanders
So, I'm having some trouble farming. Birds keep eating my crops
How am I suppose to make a scarecrow with a watermelon if the darn buggers eat all of them planted seeds?
Also, the farming exp is somewhat unrewarding
Any help? :OverTomato:

Fence your farm. Birds can't fly over fences.

Dev must have changed it. Or did you have a gap? All the fencing must connect and be on the same height level.

Oh, I had maybe two different fences connected. I also had a gate
I removed both these things and it looks like it's working

Fence your field off and trap a Dogo inside the fence, they chase the birds away

Seems like birds do fly over the fences since the latest update. I tossed in a few scarecrows and they work perfectly. Each scarecrow protects an area of 11x11 (pretty good!), which I never learned back when fences which ground-to-sky force fields. :D

Are you sure? I haven't seen a single bird in my town since the update and it's completely fenced. Even in parts very far away from a scarecrow.

Yep, I watched one fly over the fence and eat a crop. Maybe biome makes a difference? I'm based in the Fir Forest. I didn't lose a single crop before the update with a fence and no scarecrows.

put fence around it and trap a Dingo and place it inside. the birds either won't dare it or the dingo will attack the bird

Fences have seemed to stop everything on my end. with scarecrows i had an amusing couple of days where the magpies were trying to land but then they'd freak out and they kept looping LOL
