Windmill coverage

Can someone please set straight just how much area a windmill covers, is 12 tiles by 12 tiles a area of 144 tiles, as on the map (?) it show the windmill in the center and 8 tiles around it.

That graphic is just for show. All the coverage icons look the same. The silo is 8 tiles away but has the same red dot with 8 tiles around it icon as the windmill.

Edit - did some tests:
At 12 tiles and 13 tiles away from the edge of the windmill the smelter was sped up. When I had a smelter at 12 tiles and one at 14 the one at 14 was slower.
Next I did a smelter 12 away N and also 12 E and it is still sped up. Its a big square.

I am not certain wither the 12 is a radius or a diameter Diameter would be if it is a 2x2 stucture with a 5x5 around it to make 12x12 or a radius if it is a 1 block structure would be 12 in each direction from it making a 25x25... either way wither it is diameter or radius it is definitly larger then the 8 blocks around it the graphic is showing just to show it is an area of effect.

So sounds like it is a 12 radius and not a 12 diameter based on that, question then it is it a cirular radius around it or is it just a 25x25 block, in other words if you are 11 north and 11 west of it is it still in the area or does it try to make a circular shape?

Its a square, stated above I already tested that. If you go 12 up and 12 more over, it still works.

now if you put 2 windmill, is the effect stacked or as same as just 1 windmill?

Good question, I was wondering the same thing seeing as some games just have an aura that can only effect 1x but then you also have games like Forager in which you can stack the effects to a game breaking level, my wager is that it probably doesn't stack but I don't have the resources again yet to try (have started a few different saves to figure out which biome I want my town in so have a bunch of early game saves just seeing which area is both pleaseing to look at and convenient to get resources (yes I know there are teleporters, but meh it is early access I don't want to go too deep because I don't want to burn out prior to everything getting added)

Does the Windmill work on machines that are placed INSIDE your house? I have the windmill like, directly touching the house, but it doesn't seem to be effecting the things inside.

I wouldnt think so no. Its like your house is a different map or instance. Notice its bigger on the inside.
