Trash / Digging

Is there no way to trash items that i don't need? Sometimes i get tired running back from far just to clear my bag of things that i don't want.

Dislike throwing things on the ground as it makes it messy.
And also i realize digging with shovel keeps the dirt on the shovel and you gotta dump it on another place before digging again. Is there a way to dig without having it on the shovel?

You could use the holes you made to plant some trees. That's what I do, hence why fruits are next to my shovel in my toolbar. To avoid having no space left I recommend having a plan for the day/focusing on what you wanna gather that day or take a storage crate with you to dumb random stuff and mark it on the map for later maybe.
