Bug catching sucks
Some days I'll find maybe eight butterflies but most days I run around the entire day and don't see a single bug. It's summer time. Someone asked me to find them a fly in summer, shouldn't be too hard right? Well too bad lady, island is bug free

Edit: reloading the world solved the issue. Everyone saying it's bad luck or in one the wrong biome must not have actually read the post... There were zero bugs on the whole island

You'll always have more luck if you look in the Biome that the quest suggests.

Some people suggest gathering some of the common ones and keeping them in a box or something just in case someone asks for them. Flies, blue moon butterflies, and those one fish I know people ask for a lot.

you need to reload your world every few days as well. It resets the bug population

I'll try reloading the world

I know and thank you but that's not the issue here

You had some bad luck. It happens. What some suggest - storing bugs off - is a strategy to reduce/eliminate luck. Chat with a full inventory so you might have stuff they want on you. Declining a is better than taking and failing.

IMO, luck is an unavoidable factor, so it kind of pays to reduce it if possible, or just decline unless you're very sure you can complete.

I see butterflies EVERYWHERE but I can't find a fly...had a quest for it over and over but never found one...

How does one "reload" their world that I keep reading people talk about?

Reloading the world means just sleeping to save your game, then hopping out to the main menu and reloading your save again, that's all.

This this this!

If I just keep playing, all of the resources (bugs, fish, animals, fruits, flowers) just stop spawning after maybe 4 or 5 game days.

I tend to play 2 or 3 days and then save to desktop, and then load back in and everything is there again.

Also to pair with this. Lets say you have a new visitor and you really want to do the job for them but it is some really annoying one or one you just can't do like give them a cooked meal you don't have all the stuff for. Exit to main menu and restart the day. The same person will still be visiting but the jobs everyone asks for are random and reroll with each reload.

I have a question. Does rain keep certain bugs from showing up? I tried looking for a Common Blue Tail and a Duskhawker dragonfly in the tropics but it is a rainy day. I don't see anything but stinkbugs and two butterflies that are basically everyone on the map.

I hope the respawn bug gets fixed soon. I get overrun with animals, usually crocs or dingoes and then nothing else spawns until i reload the game.
